More About Coach Jim

Along with 17 years as a scout for the Atlanta Braves, my experience spans everything from coaching Big-League prospects, DII College Baseball (Head Coach, Franklin Pierce University), High School, Legion, to 10 years of Little League as our kids were growing up. I founded and have run the Windham Hitting Academy for the past 14 years - a highly successful program that simplifies the swing and burns proper mechanics into muscle memory. Although I cover everything, my specialties have shown themselves to be hitting and catching for everyone from aspiring pro prospects to young kids.

Former semi-professional player, unsigned draft - Chicago Cubs, West Virginia University/West Chester University baseball. Major League Scout (Atlanta Braves) 17 years. Founder of Windham Hitting Academy and Director of Coaching and Player Development, Windham Baseball/Softball League.

Although I can (and have) spend all day on details, my unique strength is in simplifying the swing into very understandable terms. Overall, it's as simple as this: Make sure we iron out the fundamentals (balance, rotation, basic hand path) - then really focus on hand-path, hitting vision and timing. Surprisingly, this applies to pro-prospects equally as much as it does to young kids. At the end of the day, we hit with our hands and with our eyes. It is my consistent teaching goal to build a rock-solid understanding and foster remarkable growth in your confidence. We do this by breaking the swing down into its components and burning them into muscle memory.
Along with standard (and some not-so standard) drills, I make liberal use of multi-view video. It completely demystifies what's going on with the student's hands and brings us to success all the more quickly.

Client Reviews

Coach Jim was able to identify the issues I had with batting mechanics and improved my swing in little time, Coach Jim has also given me confidence in myself in continuing to pursue college baseball. I HIGHLY recommend this coach and will for sure being going back to him!

Coach Jim was positive and encouraging. He identified my son's hitting struggles quickly and moved on to start to correct the issue. Coach noted that a change may not take place right away it may take some time but my son noticed a difference in his first games back from hitting lessons. We are happy with Coach Jim and will continue to work with him to improve my son's hitting. Highly recommend Coach Jim.

Coach Jim was fun, informative, and connected with Molly in a way that made it easy for her to learn!

Really happy with coach Jim very knowledgeable , good with my kids (they really like him) teaching them proper stance and mechanics of hitting really fixed their hitting issues.

Coach Jim did a great job instructing my grand daughter, Paige on her hitting. She was very excited after just one session. My grand daughter plays at the high school level, and has been playing softball for many years with many coaches, but Coach Jim found things in her mechanics that no other coach had, and Paige started to see improvements in her hitting the very next game. Looking forward to continue working with Coach. I would highly recommend Coach Jim.

I’m very grateful to you Jim for everything you did for Sean. If not for you, his HR might’ve been a grounder because of the arm bar/wrist roll or a pop fly without enough power to go over the net. You really have a gift working with kids and breaking down hitting into a simple process. And the recording I made of your comments is like gold!! Sean listens to it on the way to games before he puts on his favorite songs - it puts him back in that state of mind he had when he was squaring up the ball hard.
Thanks again for coming today. You've done a great job with the girls and hearing from you today will boost their confidence going into the next 4 weeks of tournaments.
That Was Awesome ! Thank You for keeping it fun for them. I know that each Player walked away with something positive they will retain forever. The entire team including the coaches benefited from your visit with us. As coaches we will do our best to keep the kids learning while having fun.
