Mr. Jeff McClure is a stellar young man who has devoted his young life to the betterment and well-being of those looking to find the fortitude within themselves to find their path for life’s journey. As head coach and owner of the Chicago Thunder Football Team, and the President of the Mid-States Football League, I’ve had the privilege of knowing Jeff for three years now. He has been a stand up member and leader of the Kokomo / Indiana Mustangs football organization, an adult amateur football team which is a member in good standing with the Mid States Football League based here in the Midwest region. Jeff possesses some very unique skills and abilities that you don’t really see in many young people today. The first and probably most important is his passion for life, the youth of today, and the betterment of people in general. I have seen him work with the younger members of his team on and off the field, not only does he strive to be a good teacher of fundamentals, he always works very hard to instill values, morels, integrity, confidence, self esteem, and good hard work ethics in all of those he has come in contact with. Jeff knows that if want to succeed in life you need to work hard to accomplish your goals. He leads by example through his community with his present work at the YMCA. He is available to help those who need it with an open mind and a genuine concern. The next most prominent thing I see in Jeff is his commitment. Commitment is a huge word today that so many only halfway endure. As we know when it comes to men and women, it takes a very strong commitment to guide them socially, physically, and mentally. It takes time, patience, and dedication to the cause, as well as commitment to that cause. Jeff is that individual. While succeeding is important to some degree, Jeff believes it is more important that a person be guided to succeed through life’s lessons. Jeff McClure is a man of virtue. It is a pleasure to have him as a contributing member of our organization, and it is special for me to call him a friend. I apologize if I have taken up too much of your time but I sincerely believe it is important you get to know him here, and see the character of someone who will by far excel, in the grooming of the men and women he encounters in his life.
I have known Jeff McClure for about 6 years. For 4 of those years I was Jeff’s Wide Receiver coach at Marian University. While at Marian Jeff was always dedicated to perfecting his trade in the classroom and on the football field. Jeff’s passion to be the best he could be drove him to be the first one to the practice field and the last one to leave practice every day. As Jeff’s former coach and mentor I was also pleased with his desire to learn the game and his respect for the game. Because of this desire I often used Jeff’s drive and passion as an example that younger athletes should strive for.
Jeffrey McClure is an exceptional example for football players at any level. With experience as a Defensive End, Tight End, Inside/Outside Receiver, Defensive Back and Quarterback since high school, he is knowledgeable in many different areas of the game and played each of those positions because it was what the TEAM needed him to do. Jeff is dedicated to doing the work off the field in order to be great on the field, which I personally witnessed as we met twice weekly between January and April 2012 to develop an offensive strategy and playbook for the Indiana Mustangs, and again the next winter/spring to improve the book. He was able to advocate for his ideas and principles while always finding a way to balance his views with opposing ideas to find a middle ground that worked best for the whole. Jeff is also extremely dedicated and accountable to his teammates. Over two seasons playing with Jeff, I saw him play through: a broken ankle, bruised ribs, knee contusions, herniated disk in his neck, and most impressively, multiple reconstructive facial surgeries. A number of those games were played while Jeff was enrolled in law school in Florida, but he still either drove or flew back to the Midwest to compete with his teammates. Mr. McClure is not one to make excuses for why he “can’t”, but instead focuses on finding a way that he “can” get something done. Any organization, football or otherwise, would be gaining a valuable resource by making Jeff a part of their team.
I began my relationship with Jeffrey when he stepped forward as a leader when he joined the Mustangs as a player back in February of 2012. I have worked with him in our front office, as well as on the field. First, Jeffrey McClure is dependable, trustworthy and obedient. Arriving early, Jeffrey participated fully in our training and was always prepared for each practice. On those occasions when I could not be present, Jeffrey could be trusted to run the workout as planned. Second, Jeffrey is a goal-oriented achiever. He sets forth plans for success, and implements his plans with work. For example, when Jeffrey wanted to excel in football with the Mustangs, he put forth extra effort in optional evening and weekend training alone as well as spent time with the Quarterback / Co-Offensive Coordinator helping to develop the offensive playbook. All for the love of the game as players do not get paid at this level of football participation. His work produced many successes for himself as well as the team. Additionally, Jeffrey’s level of effort set the standard for his teammates. Finally, Jeffrey responds to the call of leadership. Jeffrey’s thoughtful remarks and comments are well received by his team. It is true that Jeffrey McClure distinguished himself by his personal hard work, but he also earned much respect for his demonstrated ability to foster growth in his teammates, rookies and veterans alike. At this level of football it takes much courage to lead, and Jeffrey possesses such courage. In short, Jeffrey McClure has earned a reputation as a hard-working, trustworthy individual who strives to excel in everything he does. He responds with courage when challenged to produce his best and does whatever it takes to help his team win, or get the job done.
