More About Coach Jeffery
I have trained several entry level runners to meet their personal/professional running goals. Mainly one on one training in the military. Age group typically between 16-40. I do not have certifications.
What I do have is 15+ years of experience training myself and others for free.
I was a collegiate athlete at Lake Superior State University. My fastest 1-mile was a 4:06. I have competed in the junior olympics. Participated and won hundreds of track and cross country races in my time.
-Fastest military 2 mile runner in South Carolina
-Set 10 mile record for Air Assault training in North Carolina
-Maintained Highest fitness scores in my unit(3000 people) for several years
I have accomplished a ton in my running career, but I would say the one thing I am most proud of I received nothing for. I had a soldier who was a terrible runner. His form was bad, his pacing was bad, his breathing was bad. Anyway, he was going to be kicked out of the army because he was too slow. I begged my commander to give him a 2nd chance, and he agreed. I was given one month to shave off 2 minutes from my soldier's 2 mile time. I customized this man's diet, workout schedule, and resting time. I needed to train him hard, but I needed to be conservative. If he got hurt, game over.
I had him running two a days, carefully planning rest time in between. It was a tight schedule. the last few days I kept it all light. When he took the 2 mile test he blazed through it(don't remember the exact time), shaving off three minutes and saving his career.
When I create a plan I need to know a few things first. Most I need answered by timing you in person.
-Where are you now? (athletically)
-Where do you want to be? in what period of time?
-When/how often can you work out?
-Whats your daily caloric intake?
AFTER all of this, I create a months worth of workouts that slowly builds in intensity.
I will be running along side them, keeping pace every step of the way and encouraging them to push through the pain. Prior to the workout I will run on my own at the intended pace so I can memorize it. I like to end my workouts with lunges/sit ups.
Workouts typically last 90-120 minutes.
