More About Coach Jay
I have been giving private lessons all around the New England area for the last six years. My experiences have allowed me to not only coach but train some of the most well rounded athletes in New England as well as beginners in the sport of basketball and football both in the public and private school sectors. I believe in drilling my athletes on the fundamentals of their specific sport, however instilling confidence in them is just as important in their development.
Through my Future Stars Program I have been able to use sports to create change for an abundance of kids from all different walks of life. Through hard work I attained a full athletic scholarship to play college football at the University of Rhode Island where I was coached by current Navy offensive line coach Ashley Ingram. In the spring and summer I coach with the BABC AAU organization and former Celtics director of operations Leo Papile, through that I have gained relationships with many a great basketball mind, and have been able to learn from them strategies on how to manage a successful team. Coaching football at Everett High School I learned from one of the best high school line coaches in the country, Mike Milo. The opportunity to work with student athletes not only through athletics, but in their everyday academic lives as an educator has given me great insight into what motivates them. I have also served as a Head JV basketball Coach (Everett HS), and assistant varsity basketball coach (Milton Academy). These experiences have taught me a great deal, and have prepared me to train athletes individually.
If you are a student/athlete in grades seven through twelve I am open to working with you and getting you to reach your goals. My specialties for basketball include footwork, and skill development for big men, guards, and forwards. For football, offensive and defensive line fundamental skills. All sessions start off with an aerobic warm up, gone are the days where we stretch cold muscles. Following our aerobic warm up we will do a series of dynamic stretches before we begin.
If you decide to hire me, I require that your son/daughter bring with them a list of goals that they have set for themselves for their respective sport(s), and also an academic transcript that has the previous year's grades as well as a current progress report if there are grades to report.
