More About Coach Jason
My Name is Coach Jason McDermott, and I’m the founder of the Heavy Hitters Advanced Level Hitting Instruction.
I’m a Certified Epstein Hitting Instructor trained by the Jake Epstein who is often referred to as the top Hitting Instructor in the country.
I am mentored and work under Epstein Hitting Master Instructor Anthony Brites.
As a Certified Epstein Hitting Instructor I am extremely knowledgable about the style, technique, and mechanics of MLB's elite hitters.
I am a Youth Fitness Specialist dedicated to helping youth athletes become fit, embrace healthy lifestyles and maximize sports performance.
I have the ability to teach my Baseball and Softball hitters the same swing mechanics utilized by our favorite pro players in a very short period of time by using Personalized Video Analysis, Custom Drill Programs, and proven Human Movement Science.
I can fix any issue(s) that need to be improved.
The age of my students range from 8 years old to adult.
My mission is to inspire greatness by enhancing the knowledge of my hitters, to create a fun and engaging atmosphere, and to successfully guide my players to reach their maximum potential both on and off the field.
I played baseball till my late teens in local leagues.
I switched over to softball in my twenties.
I have been a student of the game and have been studying the MLB swing for many years.
Every lesson is one on one with Coach Jason.
Our initial lesson is an evaluation and lesson in one.
We begin by warming up our students properly.
Next we video record our hitters taking about 10 live swings.
Then we go through the mechanics of the swing on our motion analysis program.
We can point out what our players are doing correctly as well as areas that need improvement.
We compare their swing to that of our MLB elite hitters (Posey, Cabrera, Harper, Trout, Donaldson, Bautista, etc) or college softball players.
We then talk about proper swing mechanics to further our hitters knowledge of hitting.
After we finish the “evaluation” portion of the lesson, we will begin working on the parts of the swing that need to change with drills.
At the end of every session, we record a progression video that will be sent to you via text or email for review.
It is important during the training process for the player to continue working the specific drills and movements that have been assigned for Homework.
Our Homework Drills typically take anywhere from 5 - 10 minutes a day to reinforce specific movements we worked on during our lesson.
This speeds the learning process in a very short period of time and gives our hitters the ability to make to proper changes in muscle memory.
We continually upgrade our teaching instruction methods to keep our students on the leading edge of what is being taught in today's hitting community.
If your child's coach is not using video analysis during your lessons you need to ask why.
