More About Coach Jared

To start, I've been coaching now for over 8 years in this capacity. I was a Division 1 Student Athletes that won 3 conference Championships in Conference USA and was awarded All-Conference 3 times as well. I have previously worked with the University of New Orleans and Texas Lutheran University where I saw a ton of success. I am also a volunteer throws coach with Dallas Baptist University. I started at Texas Lutheran University, taking over for a great Coach and continued the success with 15+ conference champions and over 20 conference finalists. I was on the coaching staff that saw the Men's Track and Field Team win its first Conference Championship in school History. I also coached the high point scorer on the women's side as well in the throws.
During my time with the University of New Orleans, the group had some major growth in their distances, some with over 5 ft improvement in a short amount of time. I was able to lead several athletes to scoring points and an athlete to the East preliminary track meet in the hammer throw in 2019.

I have sense started a throws club, Momentum Throws, with 15 young athletes that are truly committed to be college throwers! I have also coached several high school throwers to over 10ft improvements and to TAPPS State Meet, the UIL State meet, 1 All-American and 5 Division 1 Signees! Below are a few more accomplishments I want to share!

I competed for UTSA and the University of Houston. I have won 3 team Conference USA championships (I have 3 championships rings). I personally have been an All-conference athlete 3 times and was most recently the 2015 Discus CUSA champion. I have competed all over the country; Texas, Louisiana, Florida, New York, California, Arkansas, Alabama.

I will ALWAYS start with a dynamic warm up mainly to prevent injury and to also engage with the athlete mentally to prepare for a good practice. Next, I talk with them on what they have eaten, how they feel and what drills they will do that day. I find it better to include the athlete in the decision making as well as collaborate with the parent. As for the throws, I have a plethora of drills and concepts that are applicable to any age group. With a younger thrower, repetition and perfecting the craft for that day will be our focus. For a little more experience thrower, throw throw throw! The more throws, the better and easier executing in the ring will get. At the end, we will discuss the game plan for the next session.
