More About Coach Jared
Currently I am a Kinesiology/ Exercise Science Instructor for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I have earned my Master's in Kinesiology - Exercise and Sport Science at UL-Lafayette, and a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science and Nutrition from Western Illinois University.
Personally, I am a former D1 collegiate soccer athlete and still play as much possible in leagues today. I am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA (National Stength and Conditioning Association). Eleiko Certified Strength Coach, and a certified Red Cross CPR Instructor.
As for training clients I have over 4 years experience with personal training, soccer coaching, athlete strength and conditioning, and leading group fitness classes. I have previously interned with a soccer club, and UL-Lafayette's D1 Athletic Performance dept. in the realm of Strength and Conditioning coaching. Plus, current experience as an instructor teaching exercise physiology labs and weight training classes for undergraduate students here at UL-Lafayette. Outside of hands on training I also do online fitness programming for clientele.
A bit about me - I'm a huge soccer person, and big family man as I'm the middle child of 7 kids! I Love to be social with friends and family, be outdoors, workout, and take opportunities to travel.
I am a former college soccer player myself. I played at the community college and Division 1 level as an outside midfielder or striker for soccer. At the community level I played for Kishwaukee College, and Rock Valley College in Illinois, and then transferred to play at Western Illinois University.
Strength and conditioning lesson plans will be based on the sport or training goals of the client. Various sports require different physical training methods.
1. All sessions will begin with a Mobility Warm up- I'll teach the athlete proper body mechanics and warm up techniques to activate the whole body prior to training.
2. After the warm up I'll transition into 5-8minutes of agility drills for the athlete in relation to their sport. Various drills with cones, ladders, etc.
3. Strength Session- after agility will be the bulk of the session with various exercises aimed at improving strength, power, speed, explosiveness, stamina, balance and stamina, etc. Bodyweight, bands, weight vests, and other equipment will be used.
4. Various cardio and endurance exercises will be towards the end of the session
5. All sessions will finish with proper cool down and stretching exercises
