More About Coach James

I have been coaching football on the high school level for 15 years. In football, I have coached several offensive and defensive positions. Serving as a head track & field coach has added diversity to my football background. I received a NASM certification in 2007 as a certified personal trainer. Over the past 10 years I have focused on speed and agility training for athletes of all ages. My first coaching experience was in 2002 at David Cutcliffe football camp as a graduate assistant. After that I took a job as tight ends coach at Meridian High School that same year I also served as an assistant track coach. In track I worked extensively with the sprinters and jumpers. In 2003 I served as the WR/DB coach at Holly Springs High School,as well as, said the head boys track coach. During my short stint at Holly Springs High I was able to help lead our team to its first playoff appearance in school history, as well as, a north half state meet appearance in track. In 2006 I served as secondary coach at Southaven High School. Later that year I was promoted to Co-Defensive Coordinator. In 2008 I moved to Lake Cormorant High School where I served as WR and Offensive Coordinator. I was able to help produce multiple All-state wide receivers and the first playoff appearance in school history. While at Lake Cormorant I lead the speed and agility program and served as the head track coach. I am currently coaching running backs at Southaven High School.

I was a member of the 1996 Mississippi class 3a State Championship team at Shannon High School. I also received All-State Honors. I continued my career at the University of Mississippi where I was a 3 year starter and letter winner from 1997-2002. As a member of the Ole Miss football team I was elected by my peers to represent the wide receivers on the Unity Council, a group designed to promote unity and communication between players and coaches. As a senior I caught 40 passes for 470 yards and 4 TDs.

A training session will begin with a dynamic warmup, followed by corrective stretching. From there the session will progress to fundamental speed and agility drills. I also incorporate sport specific movement patterns into sessions to allow athletes to identify and correct weaknesses.
