More About Coach James

I have been a private basketball coach giving lessons throughout the past 8 years, in between seasons as a FIBA professional basketball player. My coaching style incorporates the essential fundamentals that helped me excel to an internationally recognized player.

I impart a defensive-minded philosophy on my athletes, while helping them define their natural position(s) on the offensive end. Basketball is one of, if not, the most interdependent sport. As such, sportsmanship and teamwork are vital components to success on the court, and transfer into every area of an athlete's life. I stress the importance of a good attitude just as ardently as a good work ethic, never allowing my athletes to get down on themselves. Building character and the right attitude is just as important as building endurance and perfecting an unstoppable jump shot. I enjoy working with impressionable young minds in the intermediate and secondary age groups, particularly players with aspirations of playing at the collegiate and professional levels. I particularly relish the challenge of taking a raw-talented athlete, one who usually lacks institutional discipline and skill, and molding them into a student of the game, the type of player whom institutional coaches love recruiting into their programs.

My areas of focus will include, but are not limited to: footwork, agility/lateral movement, vertical explosiveness, shooter form, passing, ball-handling, core strength, basketball IQ, full court pressure offense, angles, timing and spacing in a motion offense, movement without the ball, pick&roll/pop and transition offense/defense.

Each of my sessions will commence with a rigorous warm-up and end with a sigh of relief and a strong sense of accomplishment. In between, you will be subjected to an onslaught of some of the foremost and timeless basketball drills ever created. With a willingness to dedicate yourself to your craft, along with the proper implementation of these drills into your daily training routine apart from our sessions, you will reach your full potential as a basketball player. I will simulate real-game situations for you and condition you to react accordingly. The price of exiting the gym each session will be a 1-on-1 game against myself. We will use the "two-dribble rule," which pushes the player to have to be decisive and wise with the use of each dribble. There is no wasted energy in a session with me. All exertion will be significant, relevant and vital for gradual player progression.

Coach James is an Excellent coach. He is very professional with his training technique. He's there to teach. He's very knowledgeable about the sport. He tained my son for a couple of sessions. He noticed his weaknesses and helped him improve.(dribbling, shooting, rebounding and defense). Great coach, good guy

Coach J understands what my son's needs are and where he has to develop more. He's putting together a game plan to get help him become a stronger more confident player. I'm looking forward to having my son train more with him in the future.

Coach James is very knowledgeable about the game of basketball. I've already learned a lot of thing from this coach just in one practice and if you have to ask him questions he will answer them correctly. If you want to up your game I strongly recommend this coach he will change you into a different player

James is a solid coach. Works fundamentals at a speed that pushes but isn't aimed at torture. In our sessions I've gotten post-specific work, ball-handling instruction, endurance testing, foot agility, and a fair amount of gasping free throws (just like you gotta take in a game).

If you're looking for someone to help you elevate your game (no matter where you're starting or where you want to end up), I'd recommend booking.

Coach James has been a great basketball coach for my son. After one session he clearly identified the aspects of his game that needed work. He has so many great drills and gives him an excellent workout every time. His basketball game has gotten so much better including his fundamentals, ball handling skills and shooting. He really enjoys each time he has a session with Coach James. I would highly recommend Coach James to anyone who wishes to improve their game.

James has definitely improved our son's approach to his basketball game. James identified key areas for improvement covering ball handling, lateral and speed movement, and made recommendations while approaching our son's training with patience and encouragement. This has made a huge difference in how our son plays now. James is an enthusiastic coach who provides a mental as well as physical approach to coaching; particularly in the areas of game focus, understanding how opposing team players may act, boosting confidence, and personal satisfaction. James' positive outlook is a definite plus and I would whole heartedly recommend him to anyone looking for a detail oriented, values driven, and innovative coach.

When I first approached James I had no semblance of basketball talent. After 10 sessions, I am now able to create my own shot, guard anyone on defense, and outrun everyone down the floor. I strongly recommend James's training sessions to anyone interested in accelerated improvement.

If nothing else, your son, daughter, or player will be in the best shape of his or her life after just a few sessions with Coach Bayless.
