More About Coach Jake

Besides personal experience of coaching up teammates who needed guidance I have coached for a short time with varsity lacrosse and also have small amounts of experience coaching with varsity football.

My athletic accomplishments would start with me being a three sport variety starter athlete. Then I went on to play 5 seasons of Dlll lacrosse. I got the extra season from COVID-19. I competed at Russell Sage College in the Empire 8 conference. I had the honor to accomplish over 100 points in my career there.

A client can expect from a typical session with me would mainly be sport and position focused. Whether that be breaking down the game to master the basics or trying to understand what your game is. Each and every athlete is different in their own unique ways, this would also include the skill set each of us have. To walk through a workout with a client, first I would have a conversation with you about what you’d like to get out of these sessions so I can understand what way to approach the sessions. From there we could say you want to get in shape and get a faster shot. We would focus on mechanics in the first portion of the session. This would look like taking a few spots on the field where majority of the shots are seen and just picking corners apart until you feel more comfortable within these spots. From there we would expand by having the athlete start taking a few steps and shoot to understand the footwork that comes along with it. Once this is repped out then we could expand to fully on the run shots. Then we could expand to bring in different moves and stick skills to see if these kinds of moves fit the abilities of the athlete.
