More About Coach Jake

I have coached multiple people in the marathon. Hailing from the New England area, most of my athletes seek Boston Marathon qualifying times. The training schedule varies from athlete-to-athlete based on each person's needs and experience.

I competed on the Stonehill College Varsity Cross Country and Track & Field programs for two years, which is a highly competitive Division II team. Going into my junior year I decided to start training for Marathons as a part of the Team Challenge (Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America) charity program. In my first marathon, I was able to run a Boston qualifying time of 2:49:40. Since then, I have run six more marathons in Maryland, Connecticut, Las Vegas, Boston (2:44:45), New Hampshire, and recently achieved a personal best time of 2:35:46 in Denver, Colorado.

Typical plans vary from person-to-person but range from anywhere to 8 to 16 weeks of training. All training information can be done via e-mail and/or phone. Whether you are looking to run a 5k or a marathon and at the competitive or casual level, or just looking to get into shape, I can design a plan to meet your needs. The typical week can include speed workouts, easy runs, tempo workouts, and the important long runs, as well as tips on injury prevention, nutrition, and everything in between.
