More About Coach Jake
I’ve coached youth baseball as an assistant coach for a Little League team in Colorado, where I focused on helping young athletes build confidence and develop their skills in all areas of the game including pitching for stikes, hitting for contact, and fielding across all positions. My coaching style emphasizes fundamentals, positive reinforcement, and individualized instruction based on their skillset. While I’ve primarily worked with youth players, I’m passionate about helping athletes of all ages and skill levels improve. I do not currently hold formal industry certifications, but my extensive playing experience and leadership background have equipped me with the knowledge and tools to coach effectively.
I played NCAA Division III college baseball as a two-year team captain, serving as the #3 starting pitcher and everyday third baseman. I consistently hit above .300 and was recognized as the SLIAC Hitter of the Week. I also earned Team MVP honors, broke the school's single season win record as capain, and was awarded the Sportsmanship player for the conference. In High School I played high level varsity (multiple D1 players on team) and legion baseball. These experiences shaped my leadership style and deepened my understanding of the game.
In a typical session, I tailor the workout to the athlete’s age, position, and goals. We start with a dynamic warm-up and light throwing to get loose. From there, we focus on position-specific drills—whether it’s infield footwork, throwing mechanics, or hitting fundamentals. For hitters, I emphasize contact consistency, bat path, and situational awareness. For pitchers, we work on mechanics, command, and mental approach. I also incorporate game-like scenarios to build confidence and decision-making. Every session ends with a brief recap and goal-setting for the next session to ensure steady progress.
