More About Coach Jake
My name is Jake Brigdon and I am a very personable coach who works just as hard a coaching as you do at your sport! My desire for my athletes to succeed rivals even their own desire to win and reach their goals. I am currently the wrestling coach at Fort Washington Elementary in Clovis, CA. This is only my second year, but I have already seen an improvement, doubling the number of wrestlers I had advance to our District Championship tournament and having more medals at this years tournament than the year before. I am in love with the sport of wrestling and will work hard for anyone who is willing do whatever it takes to reach their goal in this sport. I also have a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology-Exercise Science and have the ability to be your Strength and Conditioning coach in addition to wrestling. I understand what it takes to win and will get you where you want to be!
I wrestled at Ripon High School in Ripon, CA. I was a League Champion and 2x Masters Tournament qualifier. I also team captain and earned "all-area" honors. Although I did not wrestle at the collegiate level I do have the necessary skills and I am always learning new things to make myself a better coach.
Practice sessions will differ from the beginning of the season to the end of the season. However a few core drills I like to incorporate most every day is what I call the "head-pull" drill. This helps the wrestler develop the ability to stay in a strong stance while they are getting their head pulled and smashed in all directions as well as helps them develop the ability to correctly do the pulling and moving. Besides those types of drills I have my athletes drill the moves they are best at until it is perfect (in addition to progressively showing new moves as the season progresses) as well as a mixture of live wrestling.
