More About Coach Jacob

• Private Soccer Coach for CoachUp for 6 years (working with players ages 4-40).

• Coached U9 and U14 teams with the Elk Grove Force (travel soccer club out of Elk Grove Park District) for 2 years, and served as a skills trainer once per week for all other age groups in the club.

• Formerly the Head Coach and Assistant Director for a national youth soccer/child development program called Lil' Kickers (2 years), which took a unique psychological spin to the way kids learn.

• Coached with Sockers F.C. Chicago for 2 years, working mainly with their Academy and Pre-Academy teams.

• Coached alongside Loyola University Chicago players/coaches for their College Identification Camps (focused on player recruiting) for 4 years.

• 12 years of experience coaching and mentoring mentally/physically challenged students for both sports and school.

• Formerly a Youth Soccer Trainer for ages 7-18 for a new program called Pro United (founded/owned by Loyola University Chicago's ex-Goalkeeping Coach, Neil Thompson), which partners with several different house, travel, and academy clubs to fine-tune players’ individual needs, giving them the extra push they need to get to the next level of their game (house → travel → pre-academy/high school → academy → college → semipro/professional).

Played 4 years of NCAA Division One soccer at Loyola University Chicago. Awarded Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Freshman of the Year, MVC All-Newcomer team, MVC First Team all-conference (2 years), and led our team in goals and assists for all years played.

Played Semi-Professionally for 6 years for Schwaben AC, FC United, and Bridges FC (competes in the Professional Development League (PDL)). Currently, I play for RWB Adria Chicago, a Semi-Professional club based in Chicago, competing in the United Premier Soccer League (Adria also competes in the U.S. Open Cup every year, along with various teams in the MLS).

I chose to hold off on professional soccer aspirations for the time being in order to pursue a career/education in business management/healthcare, and to coach/play soccer in my free time.

I plan on being more than just a skills coach, but also an advocate and a mentor for players and their soccer endeavors. I know the hard work inside/outside of practices/games that it takes to reach collegiate and professional levels, and am grateful to have had the opportunity to play alongside some of the best players in the country.

My first session with a new player usually touches on a little bit of everything - shooting, passing, first-touch, dribbling/cutting, etc. After getting a solid idea of where the player stands after our first session, I'll connect with them (and parents) to go over my observations and to also pick their brain on areas they feel need the most improvement for sessions ahead. After our first, each session thereafter is catered 100% to players' individual needs, and I'll always send players off with "homework" of some sort to work on, on their own, before the next time I see them.

75-minutes goes a LONG way in a coach-player environment — this doesn't happen nearly enough in a team-setting! Here’s an article I wrote for CoachUp briefing that same topic and why I’m so passionate about what I do: https://www.coachup.com/nation/articles/what-made-the-difference-for-me-as-a-soccer-player

I'm so thankful for all this game has taught me about myself and life in general, and sincerely look forward to assisting you in your soccer journey, in any way I can.

My 13 year old son just started his first lesson with Coach Jacob today. Jacob’s knowledge of the game, his passion and infectious energy captured my son’s attention without a doubt. His first lesson incorporated a breath of training and a clear intent to customize the program to my sons interests and strengths. We are going to be embarking on more sessions with him and are thrilled that we were able to find him. We are working with Jacob virtually and definitely recommend him as a coach…

Good coach!
I would recommend him to anyone who need a coach to improve their soccer.

Coach Jake was a great find for us/our 8 year old son. On time, polite, knowledgeable and personable. He had my son super busy the entire time and when appropriate, took time to explain the necessary nuances of the skill/drill. We will for sure be booking more with Jake.

My son Kevin and Jacob had a great first session - they worked on a number of different drills and appeared to be working well together. Jacob was patient and took the time to get to know Kevin - Kevin is looking forward to his next session.

Coach Jake was great! We’ve had only one lesson, but he worked with my son on a number of things and gave him a great workout. My son was excited to learn a number of new foot skills too. It was great to see someone that was passionate and knowledgeable about the sport. Coach Jake provided a challenging workout and still made it fun. Highly recommend!

Coach Jacob was an excellent coach. After just one session I saw the value and understood what I needed to focus on improving. He was very willing to work with me to customize the session to suit my needs. Very happy to have bought multiple sessions and look forward to further training.

Coach Jacob was excellent. Well prepared, high energy, excellent skills, really a great work-out for my daughter. We will certainly be back when she needs another training day.

Coach Jacob was great . My 14 year old daughter can't wait for her next lesson

Hi Jake, it's Sophie's mom. We just got back from our tournament in St. Louis and we had four or five parents come up and tell us how much Sophie has improved since last season! Parents and teammates are really starting to notice some huge changes, and I think Sophie is, too! Just wanted to thank you for all your hard work. Sophie loves having you as a coach.
Hi Coach Jake, My son has been coming to you for training for a little over a year now. He just got word that he will be playing in college this August, and we wanted to personally thank you for all that you've done to make this possible. In times where he has lost all hope, you have given him a light at the end of the tunnel. We couldn't think of anyone more fitting to bring their expertise, motivational skills, and compassion to help David reach his dreams. We will especially remember how you reminded him how important it is to laugh. Take care, Jill O.
I am a more confident, directed, and accomplished soccer player and person because of Jake. He has helped me access my goals, inner strength and willingness to take risks.
