More About Coach Jacob

10 years of one-on-one experience. 5 years of Varsity coaching. I run Basketball Camps in the summertime. Former assistant director of the Novato Basketball Academy. I am currently working as a head coach for the North Bay Basketball Academy in Marin. I've coached as young as kindergarten and up to college players. Most of my clients are within the 8-13 age range. I have also taught P.E. at a private school before.

AAU:
Novato Christian Basketball Club
Urban Slam Jam

Varsity Basketball:
2010 First Team All-League BACAL
2011 Runner up league MVP, First Team All-League BACAL
Led the North Bay Christian Academy to its only league championship.

Basic Session Breakdown:

10 minutes - warm up
10 minutes - Shooting footwork and shot form
10 minutes - ball-handling and finishing at the rim
20 minutes - Dribble/Scoring Move break down and reps
20 minutes - Counters/Options and reps
5 minutes - Cool Down

My sessions are each individually crafted to fit my specific client. I am a dribbling specialist and tend to work with guards more often. However, in today's basketball, a player must know how to dribble, pass and shoot, no matter what position he plays. I'm more skill development focused. The goal is to make dribbling, passing and shooting second-nature so that the player can develop his own creative style of play.

Very good workout session and training! Jacob spends the time to really focus on improving the fundamentals of dribbling, shooting. Looking forward to the next session.

My 14 year old son just had his first training session with Jacob, and it was such a great experience! My son has had not exposure to basketball, but is on his high school basketball team and he said Jacob is a far better coach. He came out of the first session with a lot more confidence and understanding of the game. I've already seen an improvement. Jacob is very personable, friendly and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend him.

Very personable and likable. Such an up beat guy who is very understanding and has work effortlessly with our schedule.

He knows this game and is a perfect fit for my son. Hunter had nothing but nice comments about his session and the coach.

Can't say enough positive comments about Jacob!

Jacob was great with my 10-year-old son. I'm not a basketball coach, but could really see that he opened my son's eyes to a ton of possibilities with scoring and shooting. He learned lots of things he was already practicing the next day, and techniques he immediately applied to his game. Also, he was very personable, and a true professional. This won't be the last session!

UPDATE - We booked two more sessions, and Jacob was really creative about customizing the sessions based on what he saw was good skills and strategies. My son left so much more confident and brought with him a ton of tools he is already using to practice and put up points against everyone he plays!

Coach Jacob is fantastic. My son has been seeing Jacob for two months. His skills have improved tremendously and he is having a great time. My son can't wait to see Jacob each week. Jacob is a reliable, fun and a skilled coach.

Only worked with Coach Jacob 1 time. He graciously finished the last session with our son, due to our previous coach moving away.
I loved his openess with me. I explained that high school basketball tryouts were coming up soon for my son. He took this on without hesitation, all us 3 of us knew one session was not much time, but coach Jacob used that time wisely. Explaining to my son what strengths to focus on and what skills my son should work on is the short amount of time he had until tryouts. Tryouts are still going on as I write this.
Coach Jacob was positive and upbeat and encouraging. Not only does and has played basketball but has coached basketball at high school level.
He was flexible with his time. He got back to me quickly. He was able to accomadate my son despite the fact that I waited to the last minute to set up a time. I could tell my son really liked him. My son told me he liked working with him and I could tell by my son's demeanor that he liked the session and was comfortable with Jacob. And if time allows I will definately have Coach Jacob work with my son and possibly my daughter, who has just started playing basketball and could use some help developing skills. My experience has been that coaches of our schools teams don't focus too much on developing skills (not enough time). Coach Jacob will definatley be call upon again. I highly reccomend Coach Jacob. He can teach ball handling skills, shooting skill, as well as subtle skills or instincts a basketball player needs to be successful.

Our family can not say enough about Jacob as a basketball coach and as a person. He understands all the fundamentals of the game and has the drills and skills to coach kids of all levels. Our son has excelled to a higher level, Coach Jacob was a significant part of his improvement. He exemplifies encouragement, positive techniques and understanding!
I can absolutely positively recommend Jacob as a basketball coach. He taught my son for 2 seasons and numerous one-on-one training sessions. His ability to make basketball fun while teaching the fundamentals is his greatest strength. While there are many coaches who know what to teach, coach Jacob excels in making it fun for the kids.
