More About Coach Jacob
I have ran four basketball leagues at my day job working for Skyhawks Sports Academy Phoenix - East. I am the executive director for Skyhawks where my responsibilities are setting up sports programs for Mesa, Queen Creek, and Scottsdale; setting up registration for these programs for parents, and I still coach as well. I have coached at the youth recreation level (ages 7-12) for almost four years.
I played three years of varsity basketball in high school. My sophomore year I had a highlight game where I recorded a double-double with 11 points & 14 rebounds.
My senior year I scored a record of eight 3-pointers in one game and finished with 28 points total. I finished the season with 54 made 3-pointers and averaged 15 points per game along with three 3-pointers per game. I also took part in that year's All-star game.
I played two years of club basketball for Grand Canyon University.
I like to assess an athlete's current skill level at the start. This gives me a great place to start as it allows me to see what type of drills to put them through to better their skill development. From there I will have them go through drills that allow them to develop the fundamentals and progress to game-specific drills. I focus on ball handling, shooting, passing, reverse and forward pivots, ball sweeps, and especially defense. I like to teach them other skills that I didn't learn until high school such as ball sweeps.

Coach Jacob is such a great coach to our children! They have had him as a private coach and a team coach. His patience but assertiveness is phenomenal in helping our kids progress toward their goals.
