More About Coach Harvey
I have always been a tennis envoy and a High Achiever since my younger years of tennis participation. However, I began more formalized teaching and training at the Donald Van Blake tennis center, in Plainfield, NJ during the mid-90's. My high school tennis years were spent in Princeton, NJ. At the tennis center, I served as a tennis pro and hitting coach for individuals as well as a very talented women’s 4.0 team. I worked with some very talented adults and juniors. I was able, also, to work with some very talented, albeit inexperienced, young tennis players in New Brunswick, NJ. I worked with second and third graders in 3 different area schools as a coach. I have been certified and a full-time tennis coach since October of 2012. After certification, I began coaching at Kiwanis tennis center and traveling to middle and junior schools in the Chandler area.
In October of 2013, I began coaching at Indian School Park. Currently, I primarily coach privates, family privates, and semi-privates. I have experience at and am available to coach at Indian School Park, Kiwanis Tennis Center, Phoenix Tennis Center and Rose Mofford Sports Complex.
I played tennis for a prep school, Princeton Day School, in Princeton, NJ for junior high and high school. I then went on to play tennis at Williams College, where I participated with some very talented male and female players from all over the country. After Williams, I settled in the Valley in '09 and have had wonderful tennis experiences since that time. I have worked out, trained, and mentored with various Junior College programs such as, Paradise Valley, Glendale, and Scottsdale. This has allowed me to have playing partners with members of these schools, as well as, ASU and Grand Canyon.
I give my players the option of beginning class with a dynamic stretching routine for injury prevention. Then we warm-up by rallying. Afterwards, we work on a specific tennis shot and then compete utilizing that shot. We warm-up our service motion and play tennis games, hopefully, excelling at the particular shot that we are working on for that session. We end our tennis class with static stretching.

This was such a positive experience. My son left excited and wanting more. He practiced his skills throughout the week. I would recommend Coach Harvey to anyone.
John (CoachUp client)
I appreciated Harvey's flexibility in working with my wife and I. He worked around our specific requests and provided additional coaching tips where applicable. He was an excellent hitting partner and provided a very good workout. I look forward to working with him again the next time I am in the Phoenix area.

I've improved so much from the first time and getting more confident in tennis. It's so much fun to work with Coach Harvey - he also gave me a very good foundation which I need as a beginner. Plus he is patient and flexible with my schedule. Awesome instructor and definitely a pro!

He has nothing but nice things to say about ya! ...and I told him that my class is a perfect compliment to you, because you're really good at teaching the technical stuff, whereas I leave a lot of that out during my group lessons.... So, it's a good match :-)
