More About Coach Gwyn
I have extensive experience coaching softball, working with players ranging in age from 8 to 16. My coaching background includes both one on one private sessions and group lessons with athletes of varying ages and skill levels. Additionally, I’ve organized and lead clinics through my college, providing comprehensive instruction to help players improve in all aspects of the game. This experience has allowed me to develop a strong ability to tailor coaching techniques to meet the individual needs of each player, fostering both skilled development and a love for the sport.
I competed at Southern New Hampshire University, a division II Institute that competes in the highly competitive Northeast 10 conference. During my time there, I was a key member of the pitching staff, contributing as both a starter and closer in critical playoff games, including several high stakes must win situations. While there I achieved pitcher of the week in the conference and we consistently made it to the playoffs during my time. The pitching staff the first two years consisted mainly of myself and one other girl and through that I was able to develop confidence and a leadership role because of the ample playing time and tough situations I was put into.
I recognize that each client has unique goals and needs so my approach begins with thoroughly understanding their individual objectives. In the case of pitching, I’ll assess whether their focus is on velocity, accuracy, or spin, and tailor a personalized plan of drills and strategies to help them achieve their primary goals. Additionally, I place significant emphasis on the mental aspect of the game, incorporating mental training techniques to help prepare players for in game situations, maintain a positive mindset, and build resilience as they develop skills. With this approach they are well rounded, both physically and mentally throughout their pursuit of their improvement.
