More About Coach Grace

I started designing strength and conditioning programs for kids ages 6-20 years of age in 2000 at the Riekes Center for Human Enhancement. I really enjoyed introducing a mix of training techniques to such a wide range of kids. I've coached track and field athletes from various ages but primarily upper level high school athletes to collegiate athletes. I was a volunteer coach at Stanford University under the guidance and expertise of Edrick Floreal in 2008. I enjoy working with all levels of athletes but find my knowledge and experience is most valued for the high school athlete that is ready to take their event to the next level. My specialty is the long jump, triple jump and sprint technique. I'm also able to design strength and conditioning programs focusing on the whole athlete, incorporating strength with balance and flexibility which I think is so crucial for young developing athletes.

I competed at University of Oregon ('94) and University of California Berkeley ('95-'97) in the long jump, sprints, and relays. I competed as a professional athlete in the long jump from 2001-2009. I was a USATF National Champion in the long jump in 2003, 2005, 2007 and indoor champion in 2002. I competed at 5 World Championships and 2 Olympic Games (2004 and 2008). My highest world ranking was #2 in 2005. And was ranked in the top 10 of the world for 4 years. I competed and travelled all over Europe, Asia and Brazil during my career.

A client can expect a personalized assessment and understanding of what he or she is hoping to accomplish. I can offer a training program over a a period of 3 + weeks or I can offer a private coaching session for sprinting and jumping technique as well as an understanding of specific running and jumping drills. I like to take a client through a warm up, dynamic flexibility, running drills, plyometrics and strides before doing any specific work. I learn a lot through this process of what the athlete is capable of doing and where he or she is at in their technical level. The more I work with athletes, the warm up is done on their own and the skill specific sessions are longer in duration. I also offer instant video analysis for the benefit of communication, body awareness and improvement.

Coach Grace and my son connected in the first 10 minutes. She got right with him and started immediately working together. He loves working with her. We will have more sessions for sure. Highly recommend.

Coach Grace is excellent at crafting a training plan that is suitable for pre-teens. Easy to follow and set them on course to self train on the fundamentals of track and field. She built rapport with my son instantly and I could see his confidence grow throughout the season. My son can’t wait to train again.

I highly recommend Coach Grace!

Coach Grace is the “real deal.” We were looking for a rockstar long jump coach to supplement my 9th grade daughter’s coaching at her high school, where long jump is her favorite (and best) event - she’s been competing since 5th grade. Coach Grace immediately built a rapport with my daughter and began by giving her event-specific stretches and exercises. They then worked on other skills, arm placement, and body positioning and FINALLY helped get her mark and approach right. My daughter loved the session, and my biggest regret is that we didn’t find her until the end of the season. She is also immediately responsive, and went above and beyond by reviewing my daughter’s recent videos before her finals meet. We are looking forward to scheduling more sessions with Coach Grace. In my opinion, you simply can’t go wrong with her.

My daughter really enjoyed her session with Coach Grace. She learned so much from her! Coach easily recognized her strengths and weaknesses which in turn made for a very productive training session. This along with her positive attitude and enthusiasm made for a great session!

Grace is a great track coach. Although she is one of the more expensive coaches available, I assure you that she is work the additional money. Her level of skill is evident. You can't go wrong with Grace.

Coach Grace is such an amazing coach! I did not have long jump experience before, it was gracious that Coach Grace took her time taught me various drills and discussed areas I need to work on in the near future. She is a world class athlete, coach and a humble person. It was a pleasant and unforgettably experience in my life. Thank you!

Coach Grace is awesome! She not only has a plan for the fitness and technique, but addresses mental preparation before before doing any workouts. My son is really excited about working with her this summer.

Coach Grace is Amazing!!! My daughter loved her personality and her patience when teaching her the long jump.
She is so good at showing you the proper technique and how you can work on perfecting it. Everything from warm ups
to the questions on how and why you need to jump a certain way were answered. My daughter feels very comfortable that with Grace's help she will be jumping a lot farther than she has been able to this far. Grace is very energetic and passionate about Long Jump that it's contagious! My daughter can not wait for her next lesson and to soak up all her knowledge! My daughter is a sophomore in HS. She has been competing in CYO and HS track and field. While she has had some good coaches that were knowledgeable. She never really felt like she got Long Jump training. She had no idea what she was doing and was just going for it. After her first lesson with Grace she left feeling like for the First time she had a REAL LONG JUMP COACH that was going to be able to take her to the next level! Thank You Grace for being so AWESOME!

Coach Grace is an amazing coach. After one session, my daughter feels that she is already in a great plan. She wrote a plan for us and worked on details that other coaches have not been able to accomplish.

She did a great job with my son. She was well prepared, efficiently utilized the time, and gave him great coaching which he credits with a new PR.

My session with Grace was excellent. Her dynamic warmup is top notch and very effective. Her little corrections make a huge difference. She communicates very well and is easy to work with. I highly recommend her.

Great session! Super fun and challenging. Grace is very experienced and professional. She taught me new, targeted exercises.

I needed a coach to help keep my daughter in shape during her 3 weeks with me over the summer. Coach Grace not only accomplished that, but she was also able to really help improve my daughter's training regimen with additional exercises and improved techniques. I was very pleased with the time we had together and I highly recommend her!

Not all coaches are athletes
Not all athletes are coaches
Grace is both!

My daughter is new to track (first year,) but immediately connected with Grace. The focus on proper warmup, and the fact that she can demonstrate to the athlete what to do, and tag along, creates an instant partnership. Looking forward to continue working together.
