More About Coach Garrett

I have coached at both collegiate and high school levels. I have coached every position on the offensive side of the ball, and I am currently the Offensive Line Coach at Allentown Central Catholic. I have experience working with young kids through camps, all way to 24 year olds at the collegiate level.

I was a 4 year starter and letter winner at Muhlenberg College from the years 2009 to 2013. I was a member of the 2010 Centennial Conference Championship team. In 2013 I was named 1st Team All American in the GDFL Semi Pro football league. In the same season also helped my team to the national title game in Memphis TN. I have also spent time with arena football teams. Most recently I was the Offensive Line Coach for Whitehall High School in 2013. That team won the highly competitive Lehigh Valley Conference. In 2013 I coached 2 players to All-Conference selections.

First, we would go through a stretch and position specific movements. This varies from position to position. Next we will work the everyday drills each position should be doing. For example, offensive lineman would be doing Stance and Starts, Basic steps and footwork, and hand placement. This is the bare bones, basic fundamentals of the position that are the building blocks for all future techniques. Next, depending on the age of the athlete I would ask what he wanted to work on. For example, an older athlete at the high school level may want to work on something specific that his team is doing. If the athlete doesnt't have anything he wanted to work on, I would pick a specific play concept and explain the basics and install all the different techniques. For example, I would install 5 step pass protection. A lineman would need to know kick sets, power sets, hand placement, proper punch, etc. We would cover one "Advanced Topic" per session, and some topics would take multiple sessions. To finish we would do a cool down stretch, and break for the end of the session.
