More About Coach Freddy
My coaching experience ranges from elementary schoolers to elite high school players. In college I ran a small sports summer camp for 5th graders, focusing on baseball and soccer. In my final semester at Stanford I coached a Little League Majors team and gave private pitching/hitting lessons to advanced high schoolers.
In high school I was drafted by the Washington Nationals but chose instead to attend Stanford on scholarship. At Stanford I pitched and played outfield until a shoulder injury forced me to medically retire halfway through college. I went on to double-major in Political Science and Music and currently work in Los Angeles as a composer for film & TV.
My sessions are tailored specifically to the goals and abilities of my players, from beginners to the more advanced. What is common through all sessions, however, is my commitment to focused instruction, positive reinforcement, and a fun competitive atmosphere. I believe athletes perform best when their coaches genuinely care about their improvement.
Hitting drills include tee work and short toss, with an emphasis on hitting middle-opposite field. These focused drills help players refine their swinging fundamentals so they can translate them to the big field.
Pitching drills include step-by-step technique walkthroughs, throwing/long toss work, bullpen, and safe curveball/slider technique.
Defense drills begin with "playing catch" drills (quick toss, throwing footwork, etc) and short-range glovework (picks, backhands, etc). Then we progress to grounders, fly balls, and team situations.
