More About Coach Ethan
As a former Division I lacrosse player at Penn State, I bring firsthand experience from the highest level of college lacrosse to every training session. I’ve worked with youth athletes from elementary through high school, focusing on skill development, lacrosse IQ, and overall confidence on the field.
I’ve led private training sessions, small group workouts, and position-specific drills for both offense and defense. My coaching approach is hands-on, energetic, and tailored to each athlete’s needs—whether they’re just picking up a stick or looking to elevate their game for club tryouts or college ball.
My background as a D1 athlete gives me a deep understanding of what it takes to grow in this sport. I emphasize strong fundamentals, smart decision-making, and building habits that translate to game-day success—all while making sure the sessions stay competitive and fun.
My name is Ethan Long, and I played Division I lacrosse at Penn State University, competing in the Big Ten Conference against some of the nation’s top programs. Over four seasons, I totaled 101 career points, with my best year coming in 2025, when I recorded 37 points, ranking among the top 2 scorers on the team. I consistently played a key role in our midfield rotation and was trusted in clutch situations—most notably when I scored the game-winning goal against Cornell, the eventual 2025 National Champions. I also delivered a standout performance in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, scoring five goals in a first-round win over Princeton. Earlier in my career, I earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors after a three-assist game against then-No. 5 Yale, finishing my first season with 18 points (6 goals, 12 assists). Competing at the highest collegiate level taught me the value of preparation, toughness, and precision—all qualities I aim to pass on to the next generation of players
In every session, I focus on building confident, high-IQ offensive players who can create and finish under pressure. Each workout is tailored to the athlete’s position, skill level, and goals—but all sessions are built around pace, precision, and purpose.
I train in specific concepts that will be demonstrated in sessions. I’m a big believer in teaching concepts so that when a player is on the field he can anticipate plays and react on the fly.
Shooting is a major focus—I break it down by location and situation: time-and-room, on-the-run, inside finishing, and shooting off a dodge. We also work on off-ball movement, reading slides, and making the right decision under pressure (pass, shoot, or re-dodge). For advanced players, I simulate game scenarios and challenge them to react, process, and execute.
Every session is intense and competitive, designed to build both the physical tools and the lacrosse IQ needed to stand out on the field.
I also offer film breakdowns either in person or on zoom dependent to fit client needs.
