More About Coach Erin

Currently a full time firefighter/paramedic, I work with my department to help train firefighters. I moved to Louisville in 2020 from Illinois and switched gears from basketball specific coaching to firefighters and other adults. I previously coached 5th and 6th grade girls in Libertyville Illinois, I had coached with this program for eight years and have been successful in developing physical game skills, mental conditioning and passion for the game.
Their dedication and willingness to work hard to achieve their own goals motivated me to work hard to be worthy of coaching them.
In early 2020, I worked with a coaching friend of mine from college to develop an app for virtual coaching, which helped him launch a built space gym for his clients. I have a library of over a hundred exercise videos which I am in the process of upgrading. I use this app for firefighters, female football players, and my basketball players.
I have previous coaching experience for 6th grade girls basketball in Glencoe, Illinios for two years. I have also been a camp coach for High school basketball camps in Juneau, Alaska and Littleton, Colorado (my hometown).
Most of my experience thus far has come from working with young girls age 9-13. However, the high school camps I have been a part of have included boys and girls from age 5-18. In the state of Illinois, I have been coaching youth basketball for 9 years now, the first time I ever coached basketball, I was 16 and coached my younger sisters team to beating their rivals for the first and only time in their feeder program years.

4 year high school varsity athlete in basketball and track & field. Colorado state qualifier in track and field 4 years. Basketball conference champion. 4 year collegiate varsity athlete, basketball. Starting point guard for Illinois Tech 2004-2008. Also a versatile player, athletic and strong, capable of playing position 1-4. NAIA CCAC All-Conference 2008. Illinois Tech team MVP 2008. Led team in Points scored, field goal percentage, steals and assists 2007-2008

Typical non-specified session begins with fundamental ball handling (static and mobile drills) which vary in difficulty depending on participants skill level. Progress to passing drills both to improve passing skill and offensive movement placement and spacing. progress into defensive drills focus on stance and mechanics, emphasize one-on-one defense with nod to how this assimilates into good team defensive structure. Depending on participant skill level and age, strength/speed/agility training can be introduced between defense and offense. Offensive drills (getting open with and without the ball) Finish a session with shooting. Exit price of 5-15 made free throws.
The entire session is designed to maintain an intense high energy pace and organized around several areas of the game. Aspect specific sessions would focus on an individual attribute (i.e. defense, shooting, rebounding, passing, dribbling etc)

Coach Erin did an awesome job working with my ten-year-old son during his first session We have tried other private trainers and left our first session believing Coach Erin will be a perfect fit to help Evan develop the skills he needs to continue playing basketball in middle school and hopefully beyond. Session two is coming up and we are looking forward to it.

My daughter took to Erin right away, she cannot wait to continue her training.

Coach Erin is amazing!! She offers the perfect mix of discipline, challenge, encouragement and fun!!!

My daughter is enjoying her sessions with Coach Erin. Coach Erin gives her drills specific to her needs. Erin also researched shooting videos for my daughter and sent it to her based on her shooting form. We will continue to book sessions with Coach Erin.

Coach Erin evaluates the athlete's needs and develops a plan to maximize his/her potential. She listens to the athlete and makes the practice enjoyable but tough.

Coach Erin is great! My Daughter looks forward to each of her training sessions and is excited to tell me what she worked on after each session. I highly recommend her!

Coach Erin knows exactly what to do to motivate my daughter. mu daughter came home and said, "when is my next session with coach Erin? I learned so much today". Thanks coach!

My daughter Katie loves basketball but lacks a bit of confidence, so needs someone who has the experience and skill to help her build confidence and skills in her game. Erin was exceptional with Katie and is already helping to build confidence and skill level after just one session.

My daughter has only had 3 sessions. She has responded very well to coach Erins approach. Erin has been patient and focused to correct mechanics while keeping it easy and relaxed. My daughter looks forward to her sessions with Erin and hopes to show her positive results very soon...especially in tournament play!

Erin is an excellent coach that has helped my daughter excel. We met Erin at a couple of Lady Cats clinics and thought she would be a good one-on-one coach for our daughter. Erin works on everything from fundamentals to conditioning. She is a very energetic coach, whose enthusiasm is infectious with her players. I would highly recommend Erin for lessons.

Erin is a young lady that I have known for 11 years. Erin played college basketball for me. Erin is a hard worker and very dedicated to her commitments. She is very enthusiastic, determined, and passionate about everything she does. Her work is very important to her and she takes pride in all she does. She would be a great example to other female student-athletes and she will make sure athlete’s put their academics first and the game they love second. The concept of a student-athlete entails so much these days. It is a lot for a young lady to balance, family, school, and curricular activities. Erin would be a great fit for a coaching position or a leadership position not only because of her credentials but also because f her strong character. The kids can relate to her and she is tough on them to become the best they can be as players and people.
. I have personally known Erin for about 5 months since she became my daughter’s basketball coach this fall, although I had some previous interactions with her last year since she was coaching in the program. My daughter (as well as her teammates) has really had an enjoyable experience with Erin this season. Handling a bunch of wound-up 10-year-old girls for evening practices (during their busy school week) is no easy task! Yet, Erin is able to balance her practice sessions with a good combination of structure and fun that engages the girls in a positive manner. She is able to get them to settle down and focus on the task at hand. At the beginning of the season, it was evident that there was a wide range of talent on the team --- some of the girls had more experience in a competitive environment, and others were still beginners. Erin was able to work with each of the girls at their individual level, and coach all of them to improve their game. The team has made great progress over a short amount of time, and they have had a great time doing it! Erin takes the time to do the “little things” to make connections with the girls and to motivate them. At the very beginning of the season, she came up with nicknames for everyone on the team. At first glance, the girls may have thought this was just for fun. But after further examination, I think they realized that each of their nicknames had a connection to a particular skill or attribute that they brought to the team. In other words, their nickname was something to be proud of. After each game, Erin awards a trophy “game ball” that has been passed around all season. Before awarding the game ball, she reflects on what skill that particular player excelled at during the game. Each girl on the team has been awarded the game ball at least a couple of times, and it gives them a chance to feel that they really made an impact for their team. She recognizes individual play, but also emphasizes team work. In addition, Erin also takes the time to work with anyone that needs a little extra help or boost. When my own daughter was in a rut and really got down on herself, Erin went out of her way to bring her out of it. She spent some extra practice time with her at the gym, and she also had a couple of motivational talks with her to get her back on the right track. That extra effort really paid off quickly and brought a smile back to my daughter’s face.
I first met Erin when we joined the Lady Cats program in November 2013. Since then, she has coached my daughter Daniella. I immediately was able to recognize her innate ability to work with girls, parents, and coaches. Her organizational skills, coupled with an astute ability to motivate the girls yielded tremendous growth in the quality of the team. Daniella has thrived, and she is very motivated to play for Erin. She has enjoyed having a female coach for the first time in eight years. Ms. Pedersen has been a great influence and role model for all the girls on the team. She has sent several YouTube videos, and articles for my daughter to learn more about basketball. Erin demonstrates a level of openness and professionalism, while consistently maintaining high energy and being positive.
