More About Coach Erika
I transform form your training utilizing a variety of running techniques and a system which I've been developing for the past 5 years. I've been teaching running, conditioning, yoga, and Pilates both privately and in groups as well as Good Form Running clinics in Los Angeles for the last year. I have been leading run clubs in Austin, TX and Los Angeles for the past 4 years including Nike's Human 10k Race, lululemon Glendale's Run Club, and A Runner's Circle's Thursday Fun Runs. My teaching and coaching is based on principals I learned from a wealth of resources including my own coaches and teachers as well as my personal experience. I find incorporating running drills, speed work, endurance training, conditioning and yoga practices to be of the utmost importance to balance any training program.
I enjoy working with people of all ages and levels, but especially enjoy the challenge of working with beginners and amateur athletes. When I'm working with them I can see the biggest difference in their progress. My specialties include 5k, 10k, and Half-Marathon trainings, Yoga 4 Runner, and running and yoga for weight loss. I focus on teaching how to use both running and yoga as a way to transform your health, fitness, and overall life experience.
I work with each client to define their individual goals and create a customized training plan that speaks to those goals and their present fitness level. I want my clients, my athletes to feel immediate self-satisfaction and see concrete improvements and transformations in their training, health, and fitness.
I've finished multiple 5K, 10K, and Half-Marathons. I was voted Best Yoga Instructor by LA's Hot List in 2012. I typically place in the top 10 of females in my age division.
A typical 1-on-1 coaching session involves us discussing where you are now and where you want to go? Are you training for a race? Want to train for one? Or just improve your form and speed? I'll take you through the four basic principals of Good Form Running explaining in detail what's going on head from your feet to your head. I'll record you running, play it back, slow it down and give you suggestions to improve your form. After Good Form we'll utilize form drills to dissect the gait cycle (how your legs and feet move while you're running) and allow you to feel what's going on (or supposed to be going on). You'll have a-ha moments left and right. By the end of the first session you'll excited to put everything you've learn to practice.

Ericka was very helpful. I've been running for almost a year but I started getting terrible shin splints that have kept me from running the distances that I want to. She met with me and after watching me run she taught me a few things about form, cadence and gait... things that all runners should know but that I did not. I realized that I was running too slow and did not have the proper lean or toe give. I ran right afterwards (this is like 3 hours ago) and so far, no ankle pain. I'm really hoping this fixes the problem!

When we started this process of utilizing a trainer, the goal was simply to get fit. My wife and I assumed it would be painful and that we would not look forward to the workouts…..we were wrong. This has become a life altering experience for us. We look forward to our workouts and it’s no longer about just getting fit. It’s about maintaining a healthy lifestyle and enjoying the diversity of our workouts. Erika has been amazing and to say she’s a great trainer would be an understatement.
