More About Coach Emily
I have five years of experience as an Assistant Coach for girls' high school lacrosse, working at both the Varsity and JV levels. In addition, I coach youth field hockey for players 12 and under, and I'm a certified personal trainer with both in-person and online training experience. As my primary teaching role, I also work as an elementary Physical Education teacher (grades K-4), which has given me a strong foundation in athletic development across a wide age range — from early elementary through high school.
My coaching background is centered on high school athletes, and I'm looking to expand into working with middle school-aged students as well, to help grow the game at an earlier stage and support long-term player development.
Certifications: NASM (Certified Personal Trainer), US Lacrosse, SafeSport, and CPR/First Aid.
I played lacrosse at the high school level, competing on the Varsity team. I did not compete at the collegiate or professional level. While my personal playing career was at the high school level, I've built on that foundation by transitioning into coaching, where I've spent the past five years as a Varsity and JV Assistant Coach.
A typical session begins with a dynamic warm-up—high knees, lateral shuffles, and light stretching—to prepare the body and prevent injury. From there, we move into stick skills and ball work, focusing on cradling, passing, catching, ground balls, and shooting mechanics, starting with fundamentals before adding speed and pressure. Next, we run game-speed drills like 1v1s and transition work so skills carry over into real gameplay, not just isolated reps.I also build in athletic development such as agility ladders, cone drills, and strength work to improve speed, change of direction, and injury resilience. We close with a brief cool-down and specific, actionable feedback on what went well and what to work on next time. Every session is tailored to the athlete's level and abilities.
