More About Coach Elinton

I have been around the game of basketball for over 34 years. I have coached both kids and adults starting from age 6. AAU, a girls high school team and professional teams overseas are some of my coaching experiences.

I was an All State basketball player at Lawrence High School. After graduation, I went on to play at Proctor Academy, making the All-Conference and All Star Teams. After Proctor Academy, I played at Skidmore College and also played overseas in the Dominican Republic and Spain for about 5 years.

Getting to know a player and connecting on a personal level with them is the most important step. The physical and conditioning portion of basketball are important, BUT the mental portion is just as vital. A player must have confidence in their abilities, thrive on pushing themselves to the next level and have a passion for developing themselves into a star. Once a player loves the game, the process of getting them to succeed on the court becomes enjoyable.

What a great coach! My 16-year-old son just started to learn playing basketball so he can get exercises during the winter when soccer is not available at school. Coach Elinton has a unique way to let him relax and just enjoy learning. We've had 4 sessions so far and there have pronounced improvements after each session. More importantly, my son now enjoys learning basketball after many years of reluctance to play any sports other than soccer. Coach E's gym also has such a friendly atmosphere, all the kids there have such good manners and treat each other like they are family members.
