I am a 19 year old professional cricketer from the UK and have always had an interest in baseball, albeit from afar. I decided to take some baseball lessons when visiting Florida recently and was lucky enough to come across Elijah Trail. My name is Rodney Swarms and I am 51 years old living in the Pinehurst, NC area. I am a Husband, Father, Coach, Teen Youth Leader, and a Business Owner. I wanted to take a few moments and speak about Elijah Trail and who we know him to be. Our family met Elijah a little over a year ago through some mutual friends. We were immediately impressed with his manners and the way he handled himself. I believe Elijah was 22 at the time. To have a young man act the way he does is a rare treat. Elijah had come to the Hack Shack to do some personal drills and he hit it off with my oldest son Gabriel, who is 11 years old. Gabriel immediately grew very fond of Elijah and the way he talked and treated him. Elijah treated him with respect and you could tell he cared about Gabriel from the first moment. This is what impressed us most about Elijah as a person. Kids flock to him and teenagers as well. Elijah tutored Gabriel and several other young men over a 6 month period. Gabriel’s baseball IQ and skills exploded. The reason for that is that he wanted to learn from Elijah. Gabriel is only one of a dozen or more boys who Elijah worked with, all with the same results. Elijah’s baseball IQ speaks for itself with a resume of Campbell University and two years with the Rockford Aviators. IQ is one thing, but being able to take that knowledge and impart it to youngsters is a gift. Elijah has that gift. Elijah is prompt, courteous, a hard worker, and dependable. I would highly recommend Elijah for anything that had to do with kids and baseball or any other sport. We have grown to love Elijah and feel blessed to have met him and spend time with him. We consider him part of our family.
