More About Coach Earl

I have extensive experience in coaching and training athletes from the primary school level through the collegiate level and professional level. I have worked as a private trainer in the City of New Haven, CT where parents have sought out my expertise through my background as a high school and college basketball standout where I played at Wilbur Cross High School and the University of Connecticut(UCONN). I most recently facilitated the Police Athletic League (PAL) program for underserved youth in conjunction with the New Haven Police Dept during the summer of 2015

I was a Guard for the UConn Huskies from 1982 – 1986. I was No. 3 in career free throws made, No. 10 in assists and No. 11 in career scoring. Member of the UConn Basketball All Century Team. I was named Big East rookie of the year. I was the only current and former player to lead UCONN basketball team in scoring for 4 consecutive seasons. I was drafted to the San Antonio Spurs in 1986 and played overseas in Germany before retiring to mentor and provide personal basketball training.

Through my sessions clients can expect the following: Learn the fundamentals of basketball that include dribbling, passing, offensive and defensive drill sets. I teach my trainees strong character and success on and off the court. I offer one on one sessions and
Group Sessions. I also provide custom workout sessions designed to develop stamina in players.

Client Reviews

Booked and paid for 3 private lessons for my son. First one there were 2 other children present which was fine but I was never informed. Second lesson was booked, confirmed and then reconfirmed the day of the lesson. However, when my son and I arrived just a few hours after we reconfirmed, Coach Earl did not show. We waited 25 minutes, texted him but received no response. It's been almost a week and still no word. I contacted Coachup and received a refund for the remaining 2 sessions and a credit for the session that was supposed to be private but wasn't. I will be booking more sessions with Tobe Carberry. Coach Earl was totally unprofessional.

Coach Kelley does an awesome job when he is on the court with the kids. My daughter felt so good leaving practice, she felt motivated and so proud of herself! Keep up the excellent work on building the future for the children you work with.

My name is Sandra Gibson and I am the parent of Kevin. My son has been been training with Coach Kelley for a little over 2 years. I first want to congratulate Coach Kelley for being inducted into the Wilbur Cross Basketfall Hall of Fame. Even though that evening was about him, he brought on stage with him 3 of his trainees and one of them was my son Kevin. He acknowleged the great work they were doing and more specfically my son who barely spoke 2 words and a very introverted young man on and off the basketball court to a young man who exudes confidence and self assurrance. Not only did Coach Kelley teach my son the son fundamentals of basketball but took time to teach him the importance of getting good grades in school and responsibilities as it relates to chores and homework. My son will be attending a private highschool in the Fall and I would like to say, thanks to Coach Kelley and his approach to how he teaches and builds self eteem in his clients I am very greatful. I would recommend any client to visit or book his training sessions at the New Haven YMCA or at Wilbur Cross.
Always had a positive experience with Coach Earl. My son has trained with him and he is always punctual and gives a quality session. Coach Earl is always professional and gives a quality training and sometimes goes over the time and most importantly mentors the kids on the student athlete.Just felt compelled to comment after reading Kristens comment.
Coach Kelley is a great coach. He teaches excellent training and I've seen much improvement with my son Brian.
Earl Just a quick note of appreciation for your work at last weeks training. Mickey has show incredible improvement in her skills and more confidence in her moves. Thank you.
I am 13 yo male and have been training with Coach Kelley for about 2 years. If you have any kind of interest in playing the game of basketball, and want to get better at it, go to Coach Kelley. You'll learn many different things. Your fundamentals will improve a lot and by the time your training is over I guarantee you'll become a better player. Coach Kelley is not only a great coach but a great person and his training will help tons.
