More About Coach Dylan

I am motivated by seeing athletes enjoy their process of improvement. I have 8+ years of coaching experience in middle school, high school, college, AAU, and rec settings. I have also spent time as a coach educator through the Center for Leadership in Athletics at the University of Washington where I worked with coaches on how to blend peak athletic performance with social-emotional development. Every athlete learns differently, so I take the time to understand how to adapt my coaching style to get the most out of each athlete. I recently moved back to NYC, so my coaching experience took place in Seattle where I worked with the D1 Seattle University Women's Basketball team, Seattle Academy middle school boys and girls teams, Bellevue HS boys varsity team, and was the co-director for Fenix Basketball, an international youth program that runs basketball programming in the US & Japan. I have experience coaching 5v5 teams, conducting individual and small group trainings, and running FIBA 3x3 programs. I am an ACCEL certified coach and am grateful for the leadership and mentorship of the good coaches I have had in my life.

I am currently a practice player for the New York Liberty. In the past, I have been a practice player for the Connecticut Sun, UConn Huskies, and a graduate assistant for Seattle University. As a practice player my responsibilities are to learn and execute the scouts of the opposing teams, which is a great way to continue my development as a coach as I am always learning what other teams and players are doing.

My sessions are intentional, meaningful, and efficient. Athletes can expect to notice improvement while enjoying their training experience. Prior to running training sessions, I have an introductory conversation with the athlete/parent/guardian to discuss desired outcomes and learn if there is any important information for me to know going into training. Safety and enjoyment are top priorities for me, as this leads to improved performance. I gamify most drills; athletes will compete against themselves (dribbling challenge, shooting challenge, conditioning drill, etc) and use their scores in a given drill as a metric for improvement. I maintain a consistently positive, optimistic, and fun attitude while being serious and intentional about my coaching.
