More About Coach Doron

I have been coaching and training athletes for three years now. I began my coaching career with the International Sports Training Institute (ISTI), where I coached kids on a one-on-one basis and in a group setting to help them improve their basketball skills. While working at ISTI, I was selected as the Head Basketball Coach for the Houston Maccabi 13-14U team to prepare the kids to compete in a summer tournament. I also instructed a basketball class to two separate age groups at the Jewish Community Center (JCC). The program lasted for fifteen weeks. The first group of students were ages Pre-K to 3rd grade and the second group were ages 4th to 6th grade. For the first 5 weeks I instructed kids on how to dribble, shoot, pass and perform layups. From week 5-10, I coached the kids on how to play defense, pivoting, rebounding and the basic rules of the game. To conclude the program, in the last 5 weeks I taught the kids more advanced dribble and ball handling moves, how to perfect their shooting forms, and dribble drive moves and pick and roll offense. I have a certification in personal training from NASM and I am currently working on the performance enhancement certification from NASM.

I was part of the basketball varsity team in high school at Robert M. Beren Academy and won several awards including Most Valuable Player (MVP), hardest worker award and even won All-Tournament twice! I played on several basketball teams at the collegiate level, but my proudest accomplishment was playing on a semi-professional team in Israel.

In a typical session, I help clients focus on improving their athletic skills and abilities. In addition, I give them a dose of motivation. I help them achieve their goals by focusing on the basic fundamentals such as form and structure. I also find basic drills and repetition as vital elements for my clients to improve. Most of the students that I train are guards, and therefore I focus on dribbling techniques and ball-handling drills. However, as a player who has prior experience playing in every position in basketball, I can help my clients in a variety of skills so they can become a better player overall. Each session normally lasts an hour, unless my student requests for extra time to further shape their skills. I normally begin each session with a warm-up which includes dribbling and ball-handling drills. After the warm-up, I have them practice more advanced dribbling methods including crossover, spin-move, double crossover, hesitation move and more. Then after that I will have them work on their shooting form and work on dribble attack moves. I like to give my clients the most out of every lesson and try to incorporate new exercises in every session in order for them to feel challenged.

UPDATE:
ALL SESSIONS AT THE JCC HAVE A $10 FACILITY COST FEE THAT IS INCLUDED IN MY INDOOR PACKAGES.
FOR SESSIONS COMPLETED AT AN OUTDOOR LOCATION NEARBY THE PRICE IS $40.
FOR ALL OTHER LOCATIONS PRICE VARIES BASED ON DISTANCE AND TIME.

Client Reviews

Coach Doran is a great coach for my son. He runs drills with him and challenges him to be the best he can be.

I had a great first workout with Coach Doron! I am definitely going to make sure i keep booking sessions with him, and i highly recommend for basketball players to consider him as their trainer!

Coach did a great job with my son during the first session. I gave him a quick history about my son and our long term goals and honesty he was right on point. We are in now for the long term, currently signing up for the month of October for weekly training. I will update my review in November after 12 sessions.

He's good but not if you want to go pro

I was initially skeptical of Doron's ability to train clients due to his low rate. Lower rates usually mean lower quality of training but not with Doron. His philosophy is to help you save money while giving you the best quality of training possible.
My 9 year old son loves to play basketball but the league teams intimidated him. The kids were bigger and more aggressive. I hired Doron for private basketball coaching at my home. My son has made great progress. He is more assertive and his skills have improved incredibly. Doron doesn’t just stand there and coach him. Doron actually does the drills with him and has little contests to help him improve. After each lesson my son is sweaty and tired, but he tells me often that his weekly hour with Doron is the best hour of his week. I highly recommend Doron for coaching not only on physical skills but helping with the mental aspects of the game as well.
