More About Coach Don

I have been coaching lacrosse for over 10 years from the youth to college level, I am an NFHS Accredited Interscholastic Coach, US Lacrosse Level 3 Coach, a Spartan SGX Coach and member of the Positive Coaching alliance. Beginning in late 2016 I moved to coaching youth and High School full-time, taking the Ballard HS team to a 17-2 record, setting multiple team records and turning around a program who hadn't won more than 10 games in the past 4 years. In 2017 I successfully launched the Mighty Beavers Youth Camp. I am also an Assistant Coach for the 2018 Ireland National Lacrosse team. Currently coaching with Roosevelt High School and Time Bandits Elite.

Originally from Los Angeles, I fell in love with lacrosse as a high school student in Utah, and was a founding member of the University of Utah lacrosse club. Post-college I played club lacrosse with the Dublin Lacrosse and Dublin Riggers (Box Lacrosse) clubs in Ireland where I worked to grow the game through coaching and tournament play throughout Europe. I was a member of the 2007 Ireland National Indoor team and selected for the 2008 outdoor team. Team captain/coach for the Thunder indoor lacrosse club as part of the Ireland Indoor lacrosse League. In club ball, I was a long time member of the Coopers Lacrosse Club (formerly College Inn Pub) here in Seattle.

Every athlete is different, so every plan will be different as we work to use the time as effectively as possible. For example, if we're working on proper mechanics, there will be less cardio and more focus on technique. If the athlete needs to improve their physical stamina, we'll focus less on technical skills and instead teach conditioning best practices. Let's sit down and come up with a plan that will help your athlete reach their lacrosse goals.

Ty loves Coach Preston. He really breaks down everything for a boy who needs to take everything apart in his brain. He can’t wait for the next practice!

Coach Don is Awesome! We had our first (of many to come) with Don last weekend and my son talked about how great it was all the way the home. His approach to training was personalized to techniques that my son needed to improve, included a few new challenges for him to work on as well as he made it fun. My son connected with him very quickly. We are excited to continue our coaching sessions this fall with Don. Don is a top notch and I would recommend him to anybody.

Coach Don was great. I signed my 11 yr old daughter up for a goalie lesson and he connected with her right away. He gave pointers that she can work on immediately. After the lesson my daughter said it was a lot of fun. He even emailed me feedback and a summary of what my daughter should be working on. This was really great, as I could not recall all the points that were covered. I highly recommend Don and will be purchasing more sessions right after I submit this review!

My middle-schooler had a great time working with Coach Preston! The one-on-one attention was incredibly helpful for my son, and even his rec league coach gave him a compliment on how good his stick-handling was looking just a few days after the first meet-up. My son is already looking forward to his next one-on-one session!

Coach Don has been amazing, from the start of the process and all of the way through. He's great with the kids, knowledgeable and great at squeezing every drop out of the lessons. Our kids were more interested in Lacrosse coming out of the lessons than they were going in! They're excited to continue and work off of what Coach Don has taught them and progress on in Lacrosse!

Coach Don was awesome. During the first session he identified several ways I could improve and he gave me specific drills to work on during the week. Great teacher and I can't wait for my next session. I highly recommend him for training!!

Coach Don exceeded our expectations. He was able to evaluate my son's skills and adjust his training accordingly. He was efficient with the time allowed and extremely informed on the skills of lacrosse. We will definitely use him again!

Don is an awesome coach who positively pushes his team to reach their personal best. He writes the best team emails, does a fantastic job talking in front of the players and parents, and genuinely cares for each and every player. He may have a soft-spot for a few players, but overall he treats each player equally and as if they are the most important player on the team.
