More About Coach Dawn-Marie
I am a 5th degree black belt and have been teaching traditional taekwon-do since I got my 1st dan black belt in 1999. I was the Head Instructor at SJ Kim's TKD in NYC and went on to run my own school, Gotham Martial Arts, from 2007-2013. I have taught students from 3 to 63+ years of age, and specialize in working with children.
I've competed in regional invitationals in the Northeast, and regularly placed in all events - board breaking, forms/patterns, and free-fighting/sparring.
We begin with dynamic warm-ups, then move on through basic techniques. I use props whenever possible to engage students and make training more realistic and fun. I focus on solid fundamentals and power generation. We finish with partner exercises and sparring drills.
