More About Coach Dan

My daughter was recruited on an athletic scholarship by a top Big Ten college early in her junior year. Certainly there were many factors that contributed to that, but her technical development was definitely one of the big ones.
3 years Girls Varsity Coach at Lakewood High School including first year turnaround from a 5-12 record to a 12-5-2 record.
Coached U17 Boys Club Soccer programs over multiple seasons in Northeast Ohio to finalists in various tournaments. Multiple head coach and assistant coaching positions including North Olmsted and Brunswick.
Extensive experience training soccer techniques and tactical concepts for youth at multiple levels from young beginners to High School Varsity teams - both boys and girls.

2 Year starting center midfielder at North Olmsted H.S including State Championship and State Runner-up titles in Sr and Jr years. multiple all-district team selection. 4 year varsity member and 2 year starting center-mid at Miami University of Ohio including Sr year captain and Academic All-Ohio awards. USSF "C" license coach.

I recognize many families are driving up to an hour to train with me so I take the time we have together very seriously and use it very efficiently.

The best coaches meet players where they are both as a person and an athlete. My goal is to help a player reach their fullest potential - but how to get there varies tremendously from player to player AND there is no "one right" way to bring that potential out.

There is a HUGE DIFFERENCE between good athletic training and elite athletic training. If you are going to invest time and $$ into your or your child's athletic development, do it right.

We start with one or two specific areas of the game the player feels they want to improve upon immediately. 2-3 sessions like this in the first couple weeks will translate into immediate results on the pitch as well as build confidence. I also like to observe at least one match situation in the first few weeks as well. Armed with the observations made there and in training, I then incorporate other opportunities for rapid, impactful improvement.

I admit to being a self-described "Technique-Freak". My impression of many coaching styles I've witnessed over the years is that they fall into one of two categories. A: Book-taught coaching which tends to emphasize technique well but is far too boring for kids to learn from or B: Experience-based coaching that often times doesn't focus on technique strongly enough. I believe good training consistently reminds players of the finer points so they develop proper habits.. Ex: Practicing shooting 100 times is great, but if it's done the wrong way, it only reinforces bad habits. At the same time, training must be fun, challenging and engaging to encourage players to constantly improve not only with me but also on their own at home!

Players enjoy my sessions because they quickly learn finer points of the beautiful game that they can quickly apply in game situations to gain competitive advantage over their peers. I strongly emphasize domination of 1v1 situations. Offensive domination is fostered by teaching new moves that can be used in game situations. I'll be perfectly honest, my experience has shown that at least 25% of sessions need to be devoted to improving skills, control and quickness WITH THE BALL. I can sugar coat it any way you want but that's the fact. On the ball foot skills apply to ALL positions at all levels in a game situation. Most players I see are extremely lacking in this area. And because they are lacking, they often also aren't playing as CONFIDENTLY in games as they should be either. Does your son or daughter demand the ball on the field? When they get it, are they able to create opportunities? Are they the player that their teammates turn to when the game is on the line?

Say what you will about ball skills - when done right, they rapidly improve comfort level with the ball so that when challenged in match situation, a player can get out of trouble, with their HEAD UP and with VISION to play it appropriately in a productive, tactically-aware fashion. An added bonus of ball skills is that they can be very plyometric to develop fast-twitch muscle fibers.

Defensive domination is developed by teaching situational recognition, positioning, leverage and finally, tackling. In the end, while soccer is so much fun, it is also highly competitive. Mastering techniques to dominate your competition psychologically and physically while demonstrating good sportsmanship is the heart of a good training session! :-)

My sessions are intense and they move quickly. My coaching style is very, very positive and encouraging... but it is also designed to apply technical, physical and psychological demands upon the player as well so that matches will be less demanding in comparison! :-).

A great coach. Fantastic knowledge of the game

It was a great session. Exceeded expectations.

Coach Dan does a great job of putting my son through his paces but also offering encouragement when a technique seems just out of reach. Coach Dan provides after-session feedback that we can review and continue to work on at home. I am seeing my son progressing in his game strategy/knowledge as well as foot skills. His confidence builds with each session. Happy to recommend!

Coach Dan is simply fantastic. We came to Dan looking for a personalized plan for player development and he has delivered. My daughter looks forward to foot skills and always walks away feeling motivated and encouraged. Training with Dan in the perfect balance of intensity and good technique. Sessions are jam packed with drills and touches on the ball. His instruction is firm yet encouraging. My daughter is learning so much and her improvement has been undeniable. We will continue to come to Dan for as long as he is willing to instruct!

My son continues to be really motivated for his sessions with Coach Dan. He has a great demeanor coupled with a strong knowledge of the game. I appreciate the reviews he offers following each session.

Coach Dan did a great job training my teenage daughter. Each session was well prepared, efficient, and challenging. He was very encouraging and kept it fun as well. She is excited to bring her put her new skills to work in the upcoming season! Would certainly recommend Coach Dan

Dan is great. He goes on and beyond to work around your schedule. My kid is greatly found of Dan, and he looks forward to another lesson.

Dan is a great coach. My daughter actually enjoys going to her sessions.

Our 13YO daughter had her first one-on-one session last week with Coach Dan. His approach and demeanor was exactly what we were looking for in a Coach. Afterwards, our daughter was excited and is looking forward to future sessions with Coach Dan.

Our daughter recently started training with Dan, and he has been absolutely amazing. Our daughter walks away from each session feeling like she learned something and is eager to try new skills out on the field. She has a renewed Dan passion in her training. Dan looks at the whole athlete as well as their longterm goals to help improve the overall player.

Fantastic trainer. He's very motivational and technical.

Dan was prepared with a series of skill activities to assess my son and hear the workout accordingly. He has a wealth of knowledge and a great deal of patience.

Coach Dan was very helpful in a quick initial analysis of our player and in helping her focus on a few areas in which she needed help. He took time to explain his methods to her and what she could begin to do to take her playing to the next level. We look forward to working with him again.

We had an excellent first training session with coach Dan and will be signing up for more. He was very patient with our new to the sport 8yr old. He even taught us a few things too to help with practice at home.

Coach Dan is great write the kids. He finds a good balance between pushing them to stretch their limits while recognizing when they may be getting frustrated or need to slow down and focus on a specific skill. He’s very positive and my kids have really enjoyed working with him. Would certainly recommend Dan.

Just finished up our first session with coach Dan. All I can say is WOW! He was super personable, highly knowledgeable, energetic and clearly has a passion for helping kids improve their overall game.

Having had similar sessions with other personal coaches, I was expecting our first meeting to be a very generic “assessment”, but in very short order Dan had identified several areas for improvement and immediately catered the remainder of the session to focus on my son’s specific needs.

He was also able to break down complex strategy and mechanics in to easily understandable terms my son could understand and quickly implement. In addition, rather than just talk him through each drill, Dan was right alongside him correcting and demonstrating proper technique the entire session! Can’t say enough about how impressed I was!

If you are looking to make improvements in your game I’d highly recommend you give coach Dan a try. You won’t be disappointed!

Dan, did a great job with our 10 year old Son. He can be pretty reserved in new situations, but Dan was able to make him feel comfortable and motivated within just a few minutes. The training sessions are high energy, fun, and challenging. We have been through three sessions now, and each week Dan has offered new drills to build on the previous week. I have been very impressed with the variety offered to keep the player engaged and progressing in their skills. Excellent trainer!

Dan is absolutely Amazing. He has the ability to teach in a manner that the soccer player feels encouraged. Sessions are very active and players learn a lot in each session. We've noticed a difference in our player's foot skills after the very first lesson. We look forward to additional sessions and we highly recommend Dan, just wish we found him earlier.

My daughter trained with Coach Dan in 2017 to prepare for her High School soccer tryout. He helped her develop many new skills most notably her penalty/corner kicks became precise and powerful. She also seemed to play with more confidence and became a Varsity swing player freshman year. We recently signed up for training with Coach Dan again to prepare my daughter for her college soccer career at Marietta College in the fall. After the first session she came home and said, "Training with Coach Dan reminds me why I love soccer so much." I have nothing but positive things to say about Dan as a coach, he has helped my daughter improve her soccer skills, but also just as important has helped build her confidence as a player.

Highly recommend! Coach Dan was great - made my somewhat shy son feel comfortable right from the start and kept him engaged through the entire lesson. He learned so much from the very first session and has already improved tremendously. Dan also gave us a lot of tips and suggestions to continue the practice at home, which is great. Overall great experience.

Great experience, my son( 12 years old)really enjoys the sessions, not afraid to ask a questions. Communication is great, he does his homework also, practices on his own. Coach found my son weakness at first practice and after few sessions I see improvement,... and confidence level is going up:which was the first reason I reached out to him!
Milica K.

Excellent session. We explained exactly what we were looking for and Dan catered a high quality session toward my sons needs. My son is a high level high school player with college expectations, I was concerned because this was my first experience using this app that the coaches may not be able to develop the skills we wanted addressed at this higher level.

Dan exceeded our expectations and did an excellent job balancing this session with technical and tactical skills and considerations tailored specifically toward his schools playing format. We will continue to book future sessions with Dan as we don't get this type of one on one attention from his club... nor do we expect it however it was much needed.

Even thought it was just one session both myself and my daughter's dad noticed a difference in her confidence. Can't wait to see her skills improve as we continue with Dan. My daughter can be very shy one on one but Dan made her very comfortable.

We thoroughly enjoyed our session with Coach Dan! He immediately developed a friendly rapport with my son, yet still kept him focused on the lesson at hand. During the session Dan worked through several foot work and passing drills and broke them down for us so we could continue to work them on our own. After the lesson Dan provided us with meaningful written feedback which will enable us to continue to draw upon this lesson well into the future. From just one lesson it was very evident that Dan cares about developing his athletes and takes an interest in providing them skills to succeed. We are looking forward to continuing our training with Coach Dan!

Coach Dan is fantastic. He does a great job of evaluating where your athlete is at and forming custom training sessions. He explains the “why” behind drills and cone work and how they apply to game time situations. He provides extensive feedback to help beyond your session. I highly recommend Coach Dan.

Great session for my 9 year old son. First thing my son said when it was over was "That was fun. I like Coach Dan". See you again soon Coach!

Coach Dan is the absolute best! My son is very timid at times and he has been able to connect with him and show him skills that he was not grasping before. My husband is VERY impressed with Coach Dan as well....that never happens! If you are looking for the best of the best Coach Dan is your man!!

Very Friendly and at the Same Time Very Professional.

We loved our coach Dan! My 7 year old came home so excited to have another session. Highly recommend!

Coach dan really gave me a great experience. He worked with me and found a pace that worked for me and drills that suited my needs. With someone who hasn’t had any formal training in the past I can say that coach dan was a ginormous help

I am a D2 college soccer player. So far I have had a game evaluation from coach Dan and one training session. The evaluation was spot on. It was the most thorough and honest evaluation of my entire game I have ever had. My training session with coach Dan was very productive. Coach Dan shaped the session around what I need as a player and asked questions to get an in depth understanding of where I am technically and physically. I would recommend coach Dan to anyone who is serious about improving their game.

My daughter had her first session with coach Dan. I was very impressed with level of professionalism and expertise from coach Dan. My daughter enjoyed her first session with coach Dan and we're looking to book more sessions with coach. Thank you. js

Coach Dan was able to teach my daughter new skills that helped her become more confident. He did this in one session. So glad I made the decision to have my daughter train with him before the last game of the season.

Coach Dan did a fantastic job with focusing on the specific things I came to him looking for help with. He very quickly was able to read me as a player and pinpoint my strengths an weaknesses. I felt like he was very committed to my growth as a player, especially in the post-practice emails he sent. As a college athlete, Coach Dan taught me things that past club coaches, high school and college coaches had not ever explained to me. Overall, my experience with Coach Dan was extremely helpful to me and I am excited to take some of the ideas he gave me and start to implement them in my games this upcoming season.

Coach Dan is great at keeping a positive attitude with the athlete but also honest. He'll make you want to work hard and be a better player. Great drills to better your play while getting you in shape. Good knowledge of the game, and highly recommended.

Coach Dan was an amazing coach! I could tell after our first session that I was going to learn a lot working with him. He has tremendously improved my ability to turn with the ball as well as manipulating it in tight area's. I highly recommend working with Coach Dan to any player who wants to improve and has a passion for the game!

Coach Dan is a true professional. He is very patient when working with you and provides all the tools you need to succeed. I plan on booking more sessions with him.

I was very impressed with Coach Dan. After just one session, I have no doubts that he helped our son improve his offensive and defensive skills. He provided a good blend of encouragement and specific suggestions on improvements. His knowledge, experience, and passion for soccer really came through.

Update - We are about 10 sessions in now, and Jonny is really progressing with Coach Dan. As Jonny develops goals for his training, we are customizing sessions while still focusing on the fundamentals. Dan has been very flexible to work with, and he goes the extra mile to support Jonny. If you are considering extra support, I suggest starting with a package to get a good feel for the sessions.

I felt coach Dan did a great job! He was excited about coaching me and he wanted me to become a better player. I think his drills are useful and well put together.

I wish we would have found him months ago! We learned more in one session on improving specific skills than the past 2 years combined. He focused on my daughter the entire session. I can't wait to watch her progress with his help. I would strongly recommend anyone to tap into his expertise.

Coach Dan was incredible with our '08 daughter. He incorporated games into the training session which helped keep our daughter engaged while learning proper technique. He's an excellent teacher and I could see progress already in my daughters first game. Can't wait for our next lesson!

Great help and really knows what he's talking about. Definitely can coach players of all levels including MRL and Varsity. Really hoping to use him more in the future!!

Coach Dan was an extreme pleasure from the minute go!! He made my son feel very at ease and focused on everything we had discussed prior to the session, which was very important to my son. His focus my son's strengths and when giving guidance on how to improve his striking was awesome. Coach Dan made every effort to accommodate our tight schedule and dedicated his full attention throughout the entire session. His suggestions for improving Steven's skills were easy for him to understand and put to use. I cannot thank Coach Dan enough for building confidence in my son after one session and absolutely look forward to working with him again.

If you are looking for a coach who will not only help develop and sharpen skills at any level but also challenge and encourage you, Dan is a great choice. In addition to his qualifications he is a quality individual. Highly recommended.

he is a friendly coach that puts you where you need to be for the right drills, he walks you through the drills where you can fully understand them and influences you to do better through every drill

Dan has been working with both of my daughters, my oldest since she was a U13 and my youngest since U11. He was able to relate to my daughters effectively as they both learn very differently. They were able to take what they learned and apply it to game situations which I believe raised both of my daughters playing ability to the next level. We will continue to work with Dan as he has my utmost respect as a coach, player and person.
