More About Coach Curtis
I focus on developing speed and acceleration, primarily with collegiate track athletes, and have also coached individually with HS athletes in baseball, football, soccer, and other sports for the past 9 years. I also spent 3 years training with and learning from the track coaches at ALTIS, an organization that consults with the Arizona Diamondbacks and trains pro track athletes.
Former professional decathlete with Nike, 2x NCAA Champion, USATF National Champion, 4th place at World Indoor Championships, 4x on Team USA, Gatorade National Player of the Year, Olympic Trials & USA Championships qualifier in the Decathlon, 800m, and Long Jump.
While each session is catered specifically to the client and his or her goals, the beginning will generally consist of a warm up with sprint drills, some static stretching & dynamic mobility exercises, and accelerations (ensuring good form throughout). With multi-sport athletes, I provide specific drills to work on technical running mechanics, while also simulating in-game activities to ensure the lessons learned in practice transfer to real game situations. I also give athletes some drills to work on at home and often take part in demonstrating exercises. My main priorities include keeping the experience fun, and allowing the athlete to leave with excellent biomechanics, sufficient strength & mobility, as well as solid mental resilience skills.
