More About Coach Cornell
Most of my coaching experience came from learning while playing. We can say I have always been a student of the game. While playing in high school. I also help my grandfather with scouting basketball players for Knoxville college in Nashville Tn. Then going on to playing college basketball myself. I have experience coaching basketball 5th grade thru college. Also I coach Aau basketball at the 14u thru 17u. I do speed and agility training for most sports. Currently I'm the head coach for junior varsity plus 1st assistant to varsity at Gwendolyn brooks high school.
When I played basketball at George Henry Corliss high school in Chicago IL, the two awards I received were Best Defensive Player All Conference and Most Improved Player in 1987. After high school I went on to play at Alabama State University. When I returned home, I competed in most Pro- Am tournaments in the Chicagoland area. Presently I focus on training athletes to improve their ability to excel on and off the basketball court while I assist coaching at Gwendolyn brooks high school.
When meeting with an client. We both talk about the clients concern in terms of what is important to them. Lets say for instance the client wants to learn how to ball handle. I first see what the client can do. Then I setup drills like wall dribbling or tennis ball dribbling then etc.
