More About Coach Cliftton

I have been playing basketball my whole life, ever since I was about 3 or 4 years old. Although I didn't play for my school or college, I have always enjoyed playing the game. When I didn't have a coach, I coached myself, along with others to support to show where I went wrong, and helped me be the coach I am today. I am a shooting guard and I know how to move with and without the ball. Three pointers and jump shots are my specialty, along with creating space to drive to the basket or pass to a teammate.. I have been coaching now for over six years in recreational settings. The YMCA, World Changers Church International, the Atlanta Youth Program, are some of the places I have coached. In college I was the head coach, and recruiter for a league that started in my school. I love coaching basketball, and seeing the difference it makes in our youth today. I currently coach for my church as the head coach of the Red Team. It was my first time I coaching a 7-12 age group, they did great. I am very passionate about what I do, and very easy to get along with and my approach is the same when working with anyone. I also work with adult athletes as well. I look forward to coaching you and helping be the best at what you do.

I have always been known as a 3pt threat. Even as a child with no formal training, I started shooting three point shots. I used to miss quite a few. After I learned what squaring up was all about, I began knocking down shots that once seemed impossible to hit. I always believed that I could the shoot. Now, no matter where I go, as soon as I get to the 3pt spot and knock down a couple, suddenly I'm someone's worst nightmare, and a dream teammate on the other side.

I would start out by introducing myself. I would tell them a little about me, and hope they will do the same. After that, I would find out the strengths and weaknesses (not that weakness is a bad thing) of my player. Playing a fun game of 21, to find out what needs to be worked on, and go from there. This will be the first session. All other sessions after that focus on building on the things to help the player play like he/she has never played before. Drills and conditioning are big focal points for me, and that's where we start.
