More About Coach Chucky
I've been coaching track and field since 1997. I've specialized in jumps, but I coach multiple events. I am USATF Level 2 certified in jumps and I've coached many Regional, National, Jr. Olympics, HS League, CIF Div. 1, CIF Masters, HS and JC State Champions. VERY TECHNICAL!! I've coached on and contributed to 2 CIF D1, 2 HS State, and 7 CA JC State Championship teams (That gives me 11 championship rings). Enough about me....You need a jump coach?
I attended Long Beach Poly and received the Mark Carrier award my 1st season (i did every event except the throws, hurdles, or long distance).
My senior season i received the Leon Foreman award 2nd highest honor
At LBCC i received most promising jumps 1st yr.
Field MVP(tie) 2nd yr.
Team State Championship member @LBCC 94-95
I am very technical i focus purely on the jump in long and triple. I do cover what the run up (approach) entails, but it's never a focal point. My warm up is long and scripted as a jumpers warm up, complete with drills for positioning and posturing. In the High jump i get a little more in-depth about the approach because i feel it matters a lot more. Athletes will have a better understanding of what they are trying to accomplish during the jump. Athletes will begin to focus more on the jumping aspects vs the build up.
