More About Coach Christopher

I have three years of coaching experience, primarily focused on strength and conditioning. This year, I launched my basketball training business. My coaching background includes working with athletes across various levels, from elementary school players to college basketball athletes. In terms of industry certifications, I hold DBC Level 1 Human Movement and Biomechanics certification, Certified Functional Strength Coach, and First Aid and CPR qualifications. Additionally, I gained valuable experience during an internship at the University of Delaware, where I assisted the men's and women's basketball teams with their strength and conditioning programs. These experiences and certifications have equipped me to provide comprehensive training and support for athletes of all ages and skill levels.

During my college years, I had the privilege of playing Division 3 college basketball at Penn State Harrisburg for four seasons. Over that time, I maintained a solid performance, averaging 8 points per game and shooting at a 40% accuracy from beyond the three-point line. As a key starter, our team achieved significant success, winning conference championships and reaching the round of 32 in the Division 3 national tournament on two occasions. While I may not have earned specific individual awards or honors, these team accomplishments reflect the dedication and teamwork that were integral to my collegiate basketball experience at Penn State Harrisburg.

In a typical session with me, a client can expect a structured approach to improving their basketball skills. We begin by conducting a SWOT analysis, where the players themselves identify their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities for improvement, and potential threats to their performance. This self-assessment is a valuable tool because nobody knows their game better than the athlete themselves.

Once we have a clear understanding of the individual's needs and goals, we focus on refining the fundamental skills of basketball. These skills are divided into nine main categories:

Triple Threat: Teaching players how to effectively position themselves to pass, dribble, or shoot, giving them multiple options to respond to the defense.
Finishing Moves: Enhancing a player's ability to score in various situations, whether at the rim or in traffic.
Perimeter: Developing proficiency in shooting from the outside, including three-pointers and long-range shots.
Mid-Range Moves: Improving the player's mid-range shooting and offensive versatility.
Game Shots from Perimeter: Practicing game-specific shot scenarios to prepare for real in-game situations.
Pin Downs Reads: Teaching players how to read and respond to screens and off-ball movement.
Ball Handling: Enhancing ball control and dribbling skills to maneuver effectively on the court.
Ball Screen Reads: Developing the ability to read and react to pick-and-roll situations, both offensively and defensively.
Passing: Improving passing accuracy, vision, and decision-making to contribute as a playmaker.

Each session is tailored to the player's individual needs, with a focus on skill development, game awareness, and decision-making. We work on refining these skills through a combination of drills, exercises, and simulated game situations. The goal is to help the athlete become a well-rounded and confident basketball player, capable of making a significant impact on the court.

Chris has been great with my son. I've been very impressed with the level of feedback he has provided to make small tweaks for big improvements. I definitely recommend him for personalized basketball training.
