An internationally recognized expert and champion in self defense whose passion is empowering others to greater personal safety, security, and responsibility. Men, women, children all levels. Black belt in Gracie Jiu jitsu, Brown belt in Judo.

Garber earned his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under the direction of Pedro and Gui Valente at the Valente Brothers Academy in North Miami Beach where he learned genuine Gracie Jiu-Jitsu from Jiu-Jitsu founder Grand Master Hélio Gracie. He relocated to Sao Paulo, Brazil in 2007 to train and compete under five-time Jiu-Jitsu World Champion Fabio Gurgel where he subsequently was asked to join the Alliance team. As a key member of the World Champion Alliance Jiu-Jitsu team, Garber won the silver medal at the 2009 European Championships held in Lisbon, Portugal, a bronze medal at both the 2008 International Masters and Seniors Championships held in Rio de Janeiro, and placed in the quarterfinals at the 2008 World Championships and 2008 Pan American Championships, both held in Los Angeles.

Previous to competing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Garber graduated from Kent State University in 1999 where he majored in Education and competed on the varsity wrestling team. He also served honorably in the US Army where he was the Army III Corps Wrestling Champion. Combining his passion for sports with his gift of teaching, Garber has led seminars in self defense, marksmanship and combatives for the US military in the mid-Atlantic, law enforcement officers in south Florida, private security personnel in the UK and hundreds of women and men in Philadelphia. He offers personalized training to adults of all abilities.

By using the time-proven self defense tactics of genuine Gracie jiu-jitsu that pit bio-mechanics and technique over brute strength, Garber believes that anyone regardless of size, gender, age or athletic ability can learn to confidently defend themselves.
