More About Coach Christina
I am an experienced yoga practitioner and an India-trained teacher, holding a 200-hour Yoga Alliance teaching certification from the Association of Yoga and Meditation in Rishikesh. I have also completed OTM's trauma-informed yoga course with Hala Khouri.
I teach 1-on-1 or group sessions, including private events and corporate classes, often for new or infrequent practitioners.
Classes tend to be vinyasa flow, ashtanga-vinyasa or yin and restorative style classes, and I infuse mindfulness, breathwork and essential oils into each session.
I like to design the classes in collaboration with my students, keeping in mind their physical needs and what they hope to gain out of each session. I'm always open and excited to teach a new style of yoga or catering to personal preferences.
Throughout my childhood and teenage years I was consistently involved in dance, tumbling, gymnastics and martial arts.
Yoga was a natural fit and I began to practice it at a local studio near my university.
My practice became more serious as well as a form of therapy for me as I worked as a financial jouralist in the busy city of Hong Kong. While in Hong Kong, I studied under Pure Yoga-trained instructors before heading off to Rishikesh, India for my own teacher training.
I received a 200HR Yoga Alliance certification from Association of Yoga and Meditation in October 2015, and quickly followed the course with a mindfulness retreat in Rishikesh, as well as a Vipassana Meditation retreat as taught by SN Goenka.
Both the physical and meditative elements of yoga make their way into each of my classes.
My session plans come as a result of collaboration with my clients.
Before designing each class, I work with my students to understand their physical needs or limitations, what they are hoping to gain from each yoga session (strength-building, increased flexibility, stress-relief, emotional regulation, etc.), parts of the body they would like to focus on, and interest in working in meditation into the sessions.
In addition to the physical asanas (poses) I sequence with the intent of reaching those goals, I often incorporate essential oils and aroma therapy into classes. I can bring music, mats and props upon request.
