More About Coach Christie
I have been a volunteer coach for Land Sharks Running Club in Monument, CO. The children I coach are K-5. I have also helped to create running plans/schedules for many family members and friends over the years.
Previously, I worked as a professional figure skating coach in Pennsylvania. I coached children ages 3-18. My students ranged in skill level from Basic Skills to the Senior level.
Although I figure skated my entire childhood, I realized that running was my true passion when I got to college. I ran for Mercyhurst University in Erie, PA. Although I walked onto the team my sophmore year without expectations, I found that the more hard work I put into running, the more success I saw. By my senior year, I was a NCAA Division II All American in Cross Country. I won many invitationals in college and set many course records. I ran personal bests (cross country) in college of 17:04 for 5k and 20:58 for 6k. I am now a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame for Mercyhurst University and still hold the school record for 5k and 6k
After college, I ran for BRB Adidas and the American Distance Project in Colorado Springs, CO. I ran a PB of 1:14 for the half marathon and 2:44 for the marathon. One of my career highlights was winning the 2013 Rock and Roll Arizona Marathon.
Due to my busy work schedule as a Pediatric Physician Assistant, most of my coaching will be online. I will create a personalized running plan unique to my client's current fitness level and goals. I will be available through email for support and guidance.
