More About Coach Chris
As a dedicated and experienced basketball coach, I bring a comprehensive background in coaching at the AAU level with the Rise Above Basketball program. My coaching journey spans working with young athletes from ages 6 and up, instilling fundamental skills and fostering a love for the game. My playing career includes four years of collegiate basketball at Westfield State, where I also served as the team captain in my senior year, demonstrating leadership both on and off the court.
Collegiate Career at Westfield State College
Four-Year Collegiate Athlete: Played Division 3 basketball at Westfield State College.
Three-Year Starter: Demonstrated consistent performance and reliability, earning a starting position for three consecutive years.
Team Captain (Senior Year): Led the team with distinction, showcasing leadership and strategic acumen on and off the court.
High School Career at Shrewsbury High School
Team Captain (Senior Year): Displayed leadership qualities early on, guiding the high school team and setting a strong example for teammates.
As a former point guard, my session plans are designed to develop well-rounded and skilled players with a strong emphasis on fundamental and advanced techniques. Each session includes:
Dribbling Work: Focused drills to enhance ball-handling skills, including crossovers, behind-the-back moves, and speed dribbling.
Shooting Work: A variety of shooting drills to improve accuracy, form, and consistency, including spot-up shots, off-the-dribble shots, and free throws.
Passing Work: Exercises to develop precision and timing, emphasizing chest passes, bounce passes, and overhead passes in various game scenarios.
Defensive Work: Techniques to build strong defensive skills, such as footwork, positioning, and on-ball defense.
Endurance Training: Conditioning drills to boost stamina and overall athleticism, ensuring players can maintain high performance throughout the game.
This comprehensive approach ensures players are well-prepared for all aspects of the game, from offensive playmaking to defensive resilience.
