More About Coach Charles

Sports have been a passion of mine since I was a child but basketball has been the one to hold my attention. I've played through-out school. In high school I played at the varsity level all four years and even won a state championship in Texas. I have also played at the collegiate level for a couple years before setting my sights on a different calling. While in school and play sports, our AAU coach also had me involved in refereeing and mentoring younger students, which helped to spark my love for coaching and helping to develop players.

Over the years, I've coached at various levels, including: Youth sports leagues, AAU teams, and the Lackland AFB Varsity team (San Antonio, TX). When I work on individual skills I work to immediately identify players' strengths and highlight how to utilize it to their advantage. I also want my players to be well rounded, so I spend more time on their weaknesses so their game can be completely balanced.

I am an excellent instructor and possess strong problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills. I have a proven ability to determine strengths & weakness and educate clients on how to incorporate necessary exercises into their daily routine while achieving personal goals.

I hold a bachelors degree in Teaching and an Associates degree in Kinsiolgoy, which give me a great background in exercise science and how the body and muscles work together, as well as a toolbox of a variety of teaching styles for any athlete I train.

Client Reviews

Coach Charles is excellent. I immediately noticed an improvement in my son. He has a lot of great training methods to help improve my son's fundamentals. I am glad to be working with him.

Coach Charles was great with my 11 year old son! It was a very good training session. Would highly recommend in-person or online! We took an online class.

Coach Charles is a great coach. He coaches my 11 year old son and his friend together on weekends. He is building a good-fundamental foundation for them by correcting their form and teaching them though drills and runs. Within a couple of sessions we have seen big improvements in the boys’ games. At the same time both boys are enjoying their session as well. The best part of the coaching session is Coach C’s handling of the boys. He is patient with them while making sure their do finish their drills and understand what they need to do at home during weekdays.

We like Coach C and highly recommend him for one on one or small team training sessions.

Coach Charles is very professional and takes his job very seriously. My son liked him a lot, he learned a lot within the first few lessons and it contributed to his confidence. Coach Charles is calm, but demanding in a good way, very thorough about every task and gives a lot of useful feedback. Plus he makes a player think about what he could do better, which areas need to be improved, so they both work towards a goal. We totally recommend this Coach!

Coach Charles was great with my 8 year old. Taught him basic drills and had him do some homework before the next session along with getting him to list the things he did well and what he needs to work on; which is better so he understands his abilities instead of someone else telling him.

We just had our first session with Coach Charles and it was great. First he asked what we wanted to work on and targeted areas of concern right away. He did a great job of not only working on techniques, but explaining the why behind it. We plan to continue our sessions in the future.

Coach Charles is a very patient and helpful teacher. He asks what your strengths and weaknesses are and works on what you need help with. He is very agile, introduces new techniques, and reviews drills and processes in each session. In just a few sessions, my son’s game has already improved. Coach Charles work with you in any particular aspect of the game. We are looking forward to doing more sessions with him!

Coach Charles had a great session with our daughter who is currently competing in AAU HS varsity basketball. He did a great job focusing on her needs to help improve her style of play and to enhance her chances of playing at the collegiate level. We look forward to more sessions with Coach Charles in the future.

Coach Charles is an incredible coach. He is very patient and helps my Granddaughter on her specific weakness on the court. My Granddaughter can already see the results in her game, because she is now getting a more and more playing time! We're look forward to more sessions.

I've watched Charles go from player to referee to coach and now trainer. I coached young Charles AAU from middle school to high school and we won many championships. Charles has a life time love for the game of basketball and on the court skills to match. He is a hard worker and has tremendous knowledge of the game. He is a true student of the game, not only regarding skills and fundamentals but also the mental side of the game.
