More About Coach Chadd

Chadd Braine, a 1999 graduate of East Stroudsburg University and four-year letterwinner at defensive back from 1994-97, joins the Warriors’ coaching staff as defensive coordinator for the 2014 season.

Braine comes to ESU after five seasons as defensive coordinator and academic coordinator at William Paterson University from 2008-12, where he also coached the linebackers and defensive backs and guided a defense that ranked as high as 10th in Division III.

From January 2013 to July 2014, he was a manager and personal trainer at Fitness Together in Morris Plains, N.J.

Braine’s previous collegiate experience prior to William Paterson includes two years as assistant head coach, defensive coordinator and academic coordinator at Northern Michigan in 2006 and 2007.

He was the linebackers coach at Michigan Tech in 2004 and 2005. The 2004 squad won the first GLIAC championship in program history and reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Playoffs.

Braine was also defensive backs coach at South Dakota in 2003 and linebackers coach at Ferrum (Va.) from 2000 to 2002, including the final two years as co-defensive coordinator. The 2000 defense led Division III in total defense, allowing just 165.5 yards per game.

Braine began his coaching career at ESU as a student assistant in 1998 and graduate assistant coach in 1999.

He is also the founder of First and Goal Sports, LLC in Randolph, N.J., which runs youth football camps and clinics.

His published work on defensive schemes has appeared in various AFCA publications and coacheslearningnetwork.com.

During his career at ESU, Braine was named to the All-PSAC East second team at defensive back in 1997 and played in 34 career games, including 26 starts.

He had 116 tackles, 5 TFL, 2 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, 17 pass breakups and 7 interceptions over four seasons. He compiled 55 tackles and 3 interceptions while starting all 10 games during his 1997 all-conference season.

Braine was also a member of ESU’s track and field program and set a school record in the 100m dash (10.55) which stood from 1998 to 2009. He was third in the PSAC in the 100m dash (10.65) and third in the ECAC in the indoor 55m dash (6.62) in 1998.

I start my sessions with a dynamic warm-up and some speed technique drills for every position and age I Coach. We then work some position drills depending on the needs of the client. I will mix in technical and physical skills depending on the needs of the client.

Highly recommended. A professional coach that runs a great workout, tailored to your needs. Very happy player and parent.

Chadd is extremely positive and it comes across every time he works with our son. His skills in training our son in speed and agility have allowed our son to start lacrosse season with an upper hand.

Vinnie had a great time with one on one training last summer and is excited to get back into it this year!
Two years ago we moved from Texas where football is king, to NJ. We made the unfortunate mistake of entrusting the development of our son to a town recreation football league coaching staff that in my opinion lacked the appropriate skills and expertise to help my son continue to grow and develop in a positive direction. We took our son out of the recreation league mid season and immediately signed him up for one on one sessions with Coach Chadd and WOW!!! What a difference a couple of sessions made!!! Coach Chadd had our son competing at an advanced level that we have not seen in two years!!! Thank God for Coach Chadd and First and Goal Sports!!! Sebastian loves training with him!
