More About Coach Carolina
I have over six years of coaching experience working with junior and adult tennis players of all levels, from beginners to competitive tournament athletes. I’ve coached at private clubs and training facilities, most recently at Kenwood Golf and Country Club in Bethesda, MD. My coaching background includes private lessons, semi-private sessions, clinics, and match-play development. I specialize in technical stroke development, footwork, strategy, and confidence building, and I tailor my coaching style to each athlete’s goals, age, and experience level.
I am a former collegiate tennis player who competed at Catawba College in North Carolina. Originally from Portugal, I consistently ranked in the top 5 nationally across all junior divisions and represented Portugal in international competition at a young age. During my college career, I achieved a career-high national ranking of No. 13. My competitive background allows me to bring high-level technical knowledge, match strategy, and mental toughness into every lesson I coach.
A typical session begins with a structured warm-up focused on footwork, timing, and movement patterns. From there, I work on technical fundamentals such as stroke mechanics, consistency, and shot selection using targeted drills. As the session progresses, I incorporate live ball drills and situational points to reinforce strategy and decision-making. Each lesson is customized to the player’s level and goals, and I always end sessions with clear feedback and takeaways so players know exactly what to work on moving forward.
