More About Coach Cari

I have been coaching young players since 2010. From 2010-2012 I was a personal trainer for ages 8-12, helping them advance their technical skills and improve their tactical understanding of the game. During this time I was also a team coach for a u-12 local youth club team from West Islip, New York, and worked with them at weekly practices and games to help them improve both as individuals and as a team. After I went to college in 2012, I worked summer camps at the University of Notre Dame with aspiring Division I college players to help them continue improving technically and tactically so they have the ability and desire to play soccer in college and be the best they can be. I work with kids of all ages!

I focus on building skill, technique, and tactical understanding to enhance all parts of a soccer player. I will start a session by seeing what position a player plays and what they personally want to work on to improve as a player. I will then choose drills that fit what is desired by the player to help them get better. Any drill I choose to use to improve a player during a session can be made more or less challenging depending on skill level and tactical awareness, and I am capable of catering a drill specifically to a players personal needs and preferences based on what I observe during a session. Overall, it is about the player's specific development during that time.

I am a versatile player that can work on improvements in any field player position. This is includes technical development of accurate long balls, 1 v 1 defending, heading, distribution, dribbling skills, shooting and taking players on 1 v 1. I have played each field player position at a high level on the youth national teams or in college at the University of Notre Dame, and I am able to utilize what I have learned at these high levels to teach other players and help them get better.

The drills I do with players are unique and can easily be recreated for players to do on their own, and I always encourage practicing the fundamental drills outside of sessions to improve technique and skill. However, while constantly repeating the fundamental drills is important for soccer players, I will also work during sessions to provide different ways to develop and enough difficulty so players are continuously challenged to improve. I prepare drills in my notebook for each session, and then when I plan the continuing sessions, I make sure to provide more challenges and variation in my drills. In my opinion, one of the most important keys to a successful coaching session is to make learning and getting better both challenging and fun for the individual, which is what I always strive to do.

Client Reviews

Cari is an extraordinary coach. Our daughter comes back from every session beaming and with immensely valuable learning about the game. We could not be more grateful to have such an amazing coach and role model in our daughter's life!

Coach Cari is awesome! We booked a joint session with both my son and daughter. She evaluated where they are and gave them some drills they can work on on together. The kids both loved her!

Our daughter really loved working with Cari. It's fantastic to have an opportunity to work with someone who has played and trained at such a high level. Cari also has a lot of experience working with youth players, so it's a great mix. She's great and our daughter is looking forward to having more sessions with her!

My daughter loved her training session. Cari related to her on her level. She was prepared and engaged in what she was doing. We will be signing up for more sessions. Great job Cari

My daughter enjoyed the session with Coach Cari. Coach was able to break down some of the drills into simpler movements to allow for a better understanding. She covered strategy as well. My daughter was able to use the new skills in her club practices the following week.

Cari is a fantastic coach! She is always prepared, encouraging and great at teaching fundamentals. My son just got back from a session with her and he is inspired to work on all the things he learned today. That's what makes a great coach.

It is my privilege to write this testimonial for Cari Roccaro. I have been fortunate to work with Cari with the West Islip Soccer (West Islip, NY) . She always has a great attitude during soccer training. Cari is polite, humble, and has a great work ethic. Cari has shown to be a young woman of character, intelligence, and talent. She is one of the hardest working soccer trainers I have worked with in my 20 years of coaching soccer. Cari has taken her natural soccer talent to the next level and has developed into a young talented soccer coach. It was enjoyable to work with Cari. I strongly believe that Cari Roccaro will be an asset to any program. I highly recommend Cari and encourage you to give her strong consideration.
