Played throughout high school, was offered a walk-on spot at VT senior year (Practice team for first 3 years), then offered multiple contracts overseas after school. I have been doing basketball skills training for the past ten years.
Every session is designed to maximize the time with the client. This means minimal downtime and even when focusing on a particular skill, other skills will be worked on during the session. For example, if there is more than one client and it is a shooting drill, the client waiting to shoot will be doing footwork while they wait for their turn. Each session is designed to maximize the time with the client.
Identify tailored training for each person. Focus on addressing the entire athlete including fundamental basketball skills (shooting, dribbling, defense), basketball IQ, footwork, strength, and flexibility. Start each session with shooting warm-up followed by stretching. Then the workout begins. Most all drill work is done with ONE ball to simulate as many game reps as possible. If it is shooting day, then we will do 1 handed shooting first, followed by bending butt-to-heel shooting, then into the specific shooting drill work. That could be off the dribble, catch and shoot, shooting off the pick and roll, pull up jumpers, etc.
