More About Coach Cameron

Officially, my coaching career began in 2013. Unofficially, I have been coaching and training players ever since I was a player myself. I have coached and trained a wide range of players, from those who had never touched a basketball before working with me, to those who played at the collegiate level. I have worked as a Varsity Assistant at Evergreen High School in Seattle, King High School in Tampa, and I am currently a Varsity Assistant and JV Head Coach at Land O' Lakes High School in Tampa.

While working at the Y in Seattle, I ran my own beginner level basketball clinic and worked one on one with a few of the varsity basketball players from around the area. I work with players of all levels. Whether you are a high school or college level player looking to take your game to the next level, or a beginner looking to learn the basics and fundamentals of the game, I will match my training to your developmental level.

I earned All-League 1st and 2nd team honors playing for Kapolei High School on the island of O'ahu, Hawai'i. After graduating, I was invited to walk on at Washington State University.

What a client can expect depends on their skill level. Beginner level players can expect a lot of basics/fundamentals involving shooting form, footwork, defense, and ball handling. The higher the skill level, the more intense and fast-paced the workout is. Advanced level players can expect a lot of dynamic, on-the-move ball handling and shooting work. Guards will work on speed, quickness, footwork, and agility while improving on their ability to handle the ball and create their own shot. Bigs will work on footwork, post moves, and how to use your body in the post.

I always start athletes off with a light ball handling warm up. As an offensive player, whether guard or big, the most important skill is being able to handle the rock. An effective basketball player must be able to have supreme control of the rock at all times. So I always start my workout off with a mixture of static and dynamic two-ball drills that incorporate a little bit of dynamic stretching and footwork such as high knees, butt kicks, quick feet, etc. Then, I usually go into single-ball drills, both static and dynamic. Once my athletes are nice and warm, we start working on creating layups off the dribble from all spots on the court. Then we move back to creating jump shots off the dribble from all spots on the court. This is progressive, with drills increasing from one move and score, to two move combos, to three move combos, up to however many combos the player wants to work on. In between each section, I have the player shoot free throws when they are worn out. Once we have done this, I usually incorporate some sort of speed ladder into some off the ball shooting drills. I would finish them off with some rapid fire shooting drills where they have to make a certain amount before they can move to the next spot, and we would finish with some free throws, sprints, and maybe some wall sits to get their legs strong.

Client Reviews

Coach Moody started with working with our son on basic basketball skills, focusing on those assets that make a good basketball player. We have been very impressed with his focus on those skills and we plan to have our son continue to work with Coach Moody.

Coach Cameron is a great coach. Takes the time to ask his athletes what they want to accomplish and works on that with them. Coach is good working with kids and has a positive attitude. My twelve year old can’t wait for his next training session.

12/2019 update: I’m compelled to share the amazing results my son has experienced. Coach Cameron has a true gift when it comes to anticipating how his clients will be utilized by their team sports coaching staff. He then applies extra emphasis on those specific skills, while improving their overall game, physical conditioning and game strategy. My son went from being cut first round last season to making the Varsity team this season. If you are looking for a dedicated coach that takes the time to build a meaningful rapport and roadmap to success; then this is the Coach you need!

Phenomenal session with Coach Cameron. He covered all the bases such as conditioning, passing, shooting and rebounding and was able to assess my son's weaknesses and focus on those areas. He was also very patient, supportive and encouraging with my kids. I highly recommend him as a coach
