More About Coach Brian

I have had the experience the experience of coaching multiple track and field athletes, from youth running to collegiate running. I coached at Stephen F. Austin State University for 5 years as assistant sprints coach, where I was part of a staff that won 10 conference championships, and had multiple national qualifiers. I also coached at the high school level, serving as head distance/XC coach, where we had 2 top-10 State finishes in 3 years, and had 5 runners receive collegiate scholarships ranging from D1 to D3. I am USATF level one certified, a certified personal trainer and I am in the process of completing my Master's in Exercise Science.

I began running cross country and track at 8 years old, and qualified for multiple USATF track and cross country national championship meets. I went to Tacoma Baptist high school where I was a 9 time state champion in the 400 (48.77) and 800(151.7) along with the 4x400. I also had a top 10 cross country finish. During my high school career I was also 3rd at the USATF National Championships, as well as a 3rd place finish at Golden West (2004) and was a two time champion in the Wa/Oregon meet of champions. I went on to run track and cross country at Oklahoma State University, before transferring to Stephen F. Austin where I finished my career as an all-conference 800 meter runner.

Each session will be begin with form specific warmups and drills that promote correct running techniques. These are followed by event specific workouts that are based upon where we are in our macro/microcycle of training. These include workouts based on improving endurance, speed endurance or absolute speed. These workouts include fartleks, intervals, hill training and race simulators. As a certified personal trainer, I also will include weight lifting plans for each athlete to follow as well well as workouts on days we are not meeting. We also focus on the mental aspects of racing and competing during each session.

Client Reviews

If you’re looking for a coach who will support you as well as push you then this is the man for you. Coach Brian not only helped me grow physically as an athlete but mentally as well. When I started with Coach Brian I just wanted someone to help me during the summers to be ready for the next season while I was in high school, to my surprise it didn’t end there. Coach Brian’s coaching and support is the reason I was able to continue my athletic career in college on a scholarship, something I never thought was possible. I will forever be grateful for the time and support coach Brian put into me and the friendship that grew! Sam B.
