More About Coach B J
Coach ages 10 and up. I focus on each athlete idividually to cater each session to maximize the athletes potential and to meet their individual goals and expectations as well as the parents goals and expectations. I teach basic fundamentals up to very complex aspects of the game in terms of situations and skill. I participate in the lesson and show the speed and intensity the game is played with at the highest level and coach to the level of the player. I believe it should be fun but also fast paced and with a purpose. I put a big focus on athletic development because in the end that is what separates the best from the rest.
I have played Division 1 lacrosse at UMBC and Division 2 lacrosse at Queens University of Charlotte. I have MLL experience with the Charlotte Hounds.
Each session is different depending on the position and age. Sessions last from 1 hour to possibly 2 depending on what the goals are for the athlete and parents. A typical session starts with a dynamic stretch then moves to drills that get the athlete moving and running. Then skill work. I will go 1 on 1 and take turns on offense and defense towards the end to get the competitive aspect, or if it's a group do situational drills. I work with a few kids who continue while in season and with them we get in a session once a week and I tell them their goal is to keep their heart rate as low as possible and we don't do any intense drills. Mainly just stick drills to keep their skills sharp in season. Out of season is very intense (depending on the athlete). I usually have a set number of reps per drill and we go through it intensely only stopping to correct or coach the player. Repetition is the best way to learn something and I do my best to immediately correct bad habits and focus on the basics and develop the athlete from there. I have fun doing it so it tends to make it fun for the athlete as well. I am out there to make the athlete better and get better myself. As I said being that I participate and go through each drill it tends to make the athletes I work with push themselves harder and get better without overthinking what I'm trying to coach them on. That way they have a visual aid to emulate instead of someone just telling them what to do.

I found the Coach to be very driven, passionate and motivated to teach future Lacrosse players how to play the game. Foot work, speed and skill as well as the base line fundamentals w/ repetition and techniques to master numerous position(s), on the field are the key elements, the coach uses to make the players better. Not only does he challenge the players physically and mentally, but also engages in their regiment to keep them in top physical condition. He is one of the good ones, a great coach, and a good mentor for the kids. Keep up the great work Coach.

Coach BJ is dedicated to helping kids succeed. My son has already improved and increased his confidence in two sessions. He is never in a hurry to finish a lesson. It's obvious he loves lacrosse. He always gives my son things to work on in between sessions. Highly recommend coach BJ.
